Hello all, I am posting this here in hopes that someone can give me some info on these items.

They are all HO BR 216. The shells are molded in transparent plastic in four different colors. On each in yellow, red, green and blue. They seem to be a Delta factory demonstration set because they have Delta chips in them.

I am sure these locos are not the "train-ing" set. That set is in the Koll's Special catalog. Also let me point out that I am using the word "set" loosely. I do not know if this is an actual "set" from a single box. I guess I should say that they are all the same except for the color. I have posted a picture on the Yahoo Marklin B&G and I can take more detailed pictures if anyone would like to see them.

Things I do know about these locos:

They are Marklin - I have inspected them and they are 100% Marklin with late 80's wiring/chips (from what I have seen from other locos from that era) They do have serial numbers that I have yet to look up to help date them.

There is no box or boxes for them.

They have delta chips in them set to the four standard delta addresses.

No windows or light bars.

Transparent shells 1 of each color Red, Blue, Green, Yellow.

They are not the clear transparent locos that Marklin usually issues. I have a few of those.

I showed them to my dealer and he remembers something about a factory delta demonstration set from way back that was available briefly. He heard about it in Nuremburg but was too late in ordering it and missed out. He said that he has only "heard" of these locos and has never seen them or heard of anyone that has them until now. I guess I am looking for more of the story.

I know they are extremely rare and I was wondering what else came with them in hopes of piecing the set back together.

Thanks
Rick

Hi Rick, nice collection of those. I've never seen them in a boxed set as such and I did a fair bit of research myself some time back including on some of the German forums where such things are discussed.

The only other set of 4 that I am aware of was owned by the late Tom Catherall, the long-time Marklin Digital 'Guru'. Where did your four come from?, it's always interesting know how items like this make their way into various collections.

I mentioned on the B&G that I have the Yellow one which has been discussed on other topics here, I got mine as the body-shell only so I put it on a chassis of an older 216 and transferred the windows and lamp holder across and it looks great.

I've resized your images and will add them here so that other viewers can see them in the message view

Apart from my Yellow one, Tom's and now your four I am unaware of any others but there are bound to be others around

Regards

Steve
