New weathered train sets consisting of items they couldn't sell separately and unweathered, I presume. And a starter set with a loco they previously offered separately (36243).
The new way to get rid of over-productions since Märklin stopped "emergency sales" as those damaged the brand "Märklin". |

I wonder why they could not sell the BR 117 with the two packs of coaches. I think it is an amazing looking set. |

The 26804 set with the BR 117 and the six coaches looks like a weathered version of 37062+43990+41322 from 2014. Exclusive MHI items, strictly limited, only built to order, sold out at the factory before the shipping starts. That's about the story we usually hear about MHI Exclusiv items. Why they didn't sell? € 770 for a train with six coaches is a lot of money - OK, they come with interior lights. Maybe era IV is not yet mainstream amongst Märklin collectors. Some folks say the mainstream has already moved from era III to era IV, some say it will move. Mainstream or not, these sets didn't attract enough customers. Now they come weathered for just € 30 more. I bet these are the same road numbers, just with a touch of white paint. Exclusive items with exclusive weathering in a new exclusive box make a new strictly limited, exclusive collector item. It sounds as if dealers can only order sets with all four extra items. If I'm right then the street price will reflect demand and supply. Well - MHI items don't have street prices, discounts are arranged secretly between customer and dealer. Off topic: how do real trains look in winter? This page has some photos: http://www.78er.de/BIM/BIM1002/bim1002.htmlSome more if you scroll down: http://www.eisenbahnfoto...iesel/galerie216/216.htmAnd a more recent picture: http://www.bahnbilder.de...te-wagen-vom-ic-731.html |

Maybe era IV is not yet mainstream amongst Märklin collectors. Could be, but people easily pay 500 euros for a steamer. So actually, I think a six coach train set for 770 euro is pretty standard these days. Interior lighting just makes it more attractive. |

But it´s not really necessary to put the lighting in the coaches! |

I already have Umbauwagen from Märklin (around €30 each without lights a few years ago), Silberlinge from Piko (around €30) and such a baggage car from Roco (a bit more expensive). One new mould only. The price is ambitious and at that price the set didn't find enough buyers. The list price is Märklin standard, but MHI items come with smaller discounts, there are cheaper alternatives - at that price the set was not attractive enough. |

I don't understand if only the wagons of the 26803 are weathered or if the G8.1 loco is also weathered. Can someone clarify, please? Edit/answer: The wagons are also weathered. The coal ones have a better weathering than the other wagon (in my opinion). Miguel Edited by user 28 November 2015 00:25:17(UTC)
