loco adjustable coupling between tender and engine

I read the article about the green class 18 locos. Somepone mentioned the lack of adjustable spacing couplings. I was running my 37882 some time ago with a load of about 10 carriages when I noticed the spacing had increased between loco and tender. When I checked, the coupling had come apart and the load was being pulled by the wires. This has been a problem ever since , which I haven't attempted to solve yet. Maybe this is why Marklin may prefer fixed couplings??????. Does anyone have an answer for this. |

I set all my Märklin steamers to close tender distance and haven't had problems yet. In my experience the wide distance is needed for industrial radius and R1 double curves (S curves).
I think I would glue the adjustable drawbar together if it was falling apart.
Adjustable drawbars have potential problems that fixed drawbars do not have. Z-shaped drawbars have problems that straight drawbars do not have. |
Regards Tom --- "In all of the gauges, we particularly emphasize a high level of quality, the best possible fidelity to the prototype, and absolute precision. You will see that in all of our products." (from Märklin New Items Brochure 2015, page 1) ROFLBTCUTS |
