Hi Webmaster, all,

I just read your nice article (Loco conversion with LE900) and it looks interesting. As I understand, the LE930 is the successor of LE900.

How does the LE930 differ from LE900? (in addition to the articles about LE930 and LE900 on this site)
If you would compare a LE900/930 conversion with a Märklin 6080 conversion, which one is to prefer?
Also, have you tested the loco using the Railroad & Co software?
Is there any software one could use to set the address etc. in the decoder? (My 6021 is hidden under the layout...)

Bonus questions (!):

Has anyone tested to use the LE900/930 with a motor converted to DC, i.e. with HAMO permanent magnets 220560 (LFCM motors) or 220450 (SFCM motors)?
In case, what are the results compared to a Märklin 6090x?

All right, finally something I know a little about...

Differ ? - The LE900 can be used with simple diode rectifying, the 930 needs a permanent magnet DC motor, due to EMF for the "load dependent speed regulation".

Compare ? - The 6080 is more robust... The Lenz:es have adjustable acceleration, starting voltage and such so they can run smoother.
One trouble is that they seem to be very sensitive to "disturbance", both on electric "noise" from the motor and the signal on track. Running them with an Intellibox in mixed DCC and Märklin mode is not always a big hit...

Railroad & Co ? - No problems

Programming ? - No software, manual programming as described on the web pages.

Which of them do I prefer? - LokPilot... A better decoder for about the same price...

Bonus answers:

I have converted a SFCM loco with 220450 and LE930. Still havent sorted out the occasional problems with it... It is "jumping a little" between speed steps while accelerating sometimes and I haven't found the problem yet. It's like the decoder "shuts off" when entering a higher speed, could be that the motor draws too much current so protection kicks in... Or sloppy mounting, sloppy cleaning of the lok before the conversion, faulty decoder, or... ... But when it works, it works smoothly. I haven't really investigated it further...

I have also converted a Lima loco (with that crappy plastic "round motor") with excellent results, smooth & silent & powerful as a DC loco should be... The Lima was suddenly the smoothest runner on my son's layout... Just as good as any 6090x...

Bonus comment:
Great to convert DC-locos with, not so great with Hamo in my experience. I think I would try a LokPilot in a Hamo lok instead...

Hi, Peter, WEB, All!

I`ve got 2 Lenz 930. 1 in a Heljan TMX (Nohabdiesel) which runs much better (not so noisy) now since changing from Roco 10937 decoder, and 1 in a Roco RC6. Both locos got Rocos silent pickupshoes. The 930 performs very well in these locos but I´ve never tried one in a Märklin loco.
So further questions in this subject: Is it possible to programming 930 to 28 steps with IB
Or if I say like this: can I get more out of 930 when using an IB.
Best Regards
GERSON

How about the Uhlenbrock 75520, any experience out there? (In combination with HAMO 220560 or 220450?) (Hey, did you see how smooth I added Uhlenbrock to the topic, to keep the topic!)
