Hello,

Sometimes ago, I promissed to release some information about non-Märklin American car conversions that I completed. So, today is the day !
I will start with some easy conversions, in some case, just swaping the wheels.
I will later add further conversions in this topic.
I prefer to work this way intead of posting a PDF document somewhere sothat we can discuss and share our experiences and comments.
To get information on the conversions, just click on the link here under.
I hope this will be of use for some among us who are very interested in American rolling stock like me.

Pierre.

Hi Pierre,

Very interesting information! Nice website too... Although it's not of my personal interest, I like reading about these conversions. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Pierre,

This is good information. I'm in the process of converting several TRIX and Proto 2000 box cars and tankers.

Thanks to you all for compliments.
This week-end I weathered with success a Walthers 50' Gunderson Hi-Cube Paper Service Box Car. I hope to post information soon. It runs very nicely on Märklin tracks.
Pierre.

Hello Joe,
I really like Proto 2000 kits. They are easy to assemble and unexpensive. We can sometimes find boxcars for less than CDN$ 10.00 ( Euros 6.50 ) here in Montreal !
Please post photos when you will have completed your conversions.
Have fun !
Pierre.

At last, some more pictures of converted cars :

ATHEARN 50' FMC 5347 Boxcars : # 92519 (MEC # 31862) and # 92520 (MEC # 31978). Both are in Pan-Am Railway livery and both sides of each car are slightly different.

You can get a full report here : http://www.pierregillard...n/mrnm/athearn50fmc.html

By the way, I had the chance to take a picture of sister car BM # 3357 at nearby Saint-Lambert Station, Quebec, last year and that picture was published in the September 2005 issue of ... Airways magazine (p. 77) !
