Hello,
If you look, Märklin has retired all F7 locomotives but one single Delta ATSF A Unit from catalogues.
This let me think that Märklin could develop a revamped version of this mythical US locomotive soon.
Do some of you have the same feeling ?
It would be great if Märklin could also offer different versions such as F3, FP7, F9 and FP9 for instance.
What would be interesting as well is an undecorated version sothat everyone can paint the locomotive in his favorite railroad company(ies) colors.
Pierre.

I agree with you. The PA-1 will never do the job the F7 did. They still haven't done the F7 in NYC, Pennsylvania, and several other major roadnames and I am sure the retooled Santa Fe would sell just fine too. As for undecs, I doubt there is much of a case for them. Marklin modellers want plug and play and any determined scale modeller could strip a paint job no problem before painting their preferred colors.

Hi Pierre, lots of great ideas from your side Smile !!!

But - since even that last F7 is gone, now (no trace of #33622 in the 2005 yearbook, anymore) there is only one US Diesel (PA-1) remaining. No good.

Well, M makes lots of V200s and V160s, instead. Something we do really need ... [xx(][xx(][xx(]

undecorated version is a great idea. the modeler could also super-detail the engine, like the PRR versions, which have the antennas on the roof.
they coudl also make GP38/40 version too, as they have the 4-wheel trucks liek the F7's.
Undecorated shells would probably be very economical, and might sell well in the USA to the DC people.

Hi all,

After many years of F7 from Marklin the tooling to cast the Body has finally broken and as of today not been replaced by Marklin ( according to a source inside Marklin)[xx(][xx(].
I am sure sooner or later Marklin will come out with a new version of the F7 probably with C-Sine Motor, moving Fans and sound, which would mean a whole new Frame and Body ( just my guess )[8)][8)]

Hi,

A new EMD F series lok would be fine ! The old F7 models are classics but technically out of date: detailing of case is from the 60's, motor with open gear wheels gathers all dust an dirt from the tracks, the head lights are primitive, traction power is on the lower side. But e.g. an F3 in PA, GG-1 or C-sine technology, let us dream of that.

Hi,

About a new F7, after years of speculations on new Märklin items, the only thing I can conclude is that you'll never know for sure untill it is presented... (Or leaked, a few weeks before the Messe) Anyway, never loose hope, it took Märklin almost 20 years to come up with a new (better detailed) NS 1200 E-loco but they did as you can see. The only thing you can do is enjoy what you have, or what's available and hope for more. wink

A suggestion for Märklin : an Alco PA-1, a F7B and a F7A (post card from my archives).
Pierre.

If they do the PA-1 in Rio Grande, I can be considered an extra lok set for the 26600 CA Zephyr! The were run with WP DRgW and CB&Q locomotives!
