Hi all,
Could I please request anyone who has received new MFX+ locos to report, here, the factory settings that the locomotives were delivered with for
a) the value defined for the Console Type.
b) the decoders version

The "Console Type" value is located in the CV settings under the "Stock" section. It and is right at the bottom of the list.
note: older firmware locomotives (pre 2014 CS2=v3.6) do not have this setting.

Based on observations, I expect the ...

Electrics = 1, 5, 09, 13 ....
Diesels.. = 2, 6, 10, 14 ....
Steam.... = 3, 7, 11, 15 ....

These appear to be in steps of 4 for the purpose of being backward compatible with a CS2 that has not been updated with the latest cab library.
May2016 update to v4.1.2(3), includes 2 Kran images with IDs 04 and 08

If a decoder reports an ID that is not known, (e.g. a new loco-decoder onto a CS2 with an earlier version that is unaware of the specific ID), a calculation will at least be able to identify and present the default Electric,Deisel,Steam image as a make-do. NOTE: The MS-Icon setting also comes into play here.
The above backward support using the MS-icon setting is also used if CT=0. The rest of the 4,8,12 ... sequence might be for "accessories" - e.g. crane, signalbox, workshop wagon etc.

These are the supported cab definitions per CS2 firmware version with the names associated ...
Notes:
- The first mFX+ locomotives (2013 New Items) documented a need for CS2-v2.5. this was never seen in the wild, thus v3.0 is noted
- The support for "ConsoleType" is actually a decoder version one as well as for the CS2 having awareness.

Ref: Train Stories (2014/5 insider package)

Interesting to note that the BR05 cab forward used pulverised coal dust , instead of coal lumbs.
So which firebox image "better" represents this visually - The one showing Coal (lumps) or Oil?

Coal is coal and oil is oil, so I would think the lumpy coal icon is closer.

- the fire brigade
- asthmatics.

I was actually expecting my comment to solicit a response about the '05 with its pulverised coal not having a traditional firebox at all, so neither the current options apply for the MFX+ game world image.
That , and the fact you are facing the wrong way to see out the window when you are facing the boiler.

Thankfully, we're not in a pub on the West Coast!

My comment was purely in the context of the images that are available on the CS2, and which one would suitably describe the class 05 (in my mind at least). Others may think differently or want to upload a different image (is this possible?)

I'm an asthmatic, but I don't disagree with myself (is that some sort of paradox?) (and I'm starting to sound like Mike H).

BTW, do you want me to bring the Re 4/4 II and E44 along to the club sometime so that you can explore the mfx+ features further?

My theory about the ID patterns for Electric, Steam, Diesel appears to be correct

From v3.8

Electrics
17 = eit1999drg v3.8
21 = dm3 v3.8
25 = serie1200_blau v3.8
29 = koploper v3.8

Steam
7 = dampf v3.8

From ChangeLog(3.8) - reference to Beta3.9 with Skin IDs ...
11 = Steam Peat

33,37,41,45 (If sequence conforms these will be Electrics)

Where are the Diesels?

This weeks shipment of the 37126 and accompanying posting online of the parts manual, means that all of the 2014 mFX+ locos (non sets) can be accounted for.

In the first post of this thread, I have recorded the underlying decoder hardware (which indicates 3 core decoders being used that are then customised)

I would still like to fill out the default CabMode settings in the table, and would be interested to hear from anyone with access to models that are currently blank in the table. The version of decoder software as shipped from the factory is a lesser bit of information, however it may give some perspective over time (e.g. correlation with CS2 version announcements for updates to CabMode images)

Note: The same request applies for 2015 NewItems that have already hit the streets

The 39550 Manual has an intriguing note next to "F15 Sound effect: Squealing brakes off *" in the function table.

It states "* Only for „World of Operation“, do not move (do not map)"

"Squealing Brakes sound Off " is nothing new, so why is it now only able to be used with WOO and why can it not (of should not) be remapped ?

If anyone has one of these and can elaborate on this comment, it would be appreciated.

I can't explain why this comment is included in the function table! However, it is appearing in quite a few new locos. Ones I have that specify this (for either F14 or F15) are:

37423 Koploper
37582 Glass train
37756 SJ Dm
37870 E93
37923 BR 41
39053 Cab Forward BR 05

Interesting!

I would guess that this is related to using the 'cab control' on the cs2, so that the sound is controlled when using the brake handle. It needs to stay on a known function number so that the mfx+ capability of the cs2 knows how to control it.

Not having a cs2 to try it on, I can't do more than assume this is the reason.

Quote:
.... "F15 Sound effect: Squealing brakes off *"

Nigel,
- Many thanks for the added perspective, the manuals have made a subtle (and possibly erroneous) change over time

Alan,
- The WOO CabMode images and functionality are based on the ICONs (Actually iconIDs) not the Function#.

Maybe a break down of the various sub-questions around this
- WOO reference
- OFF
- Do not Move/Map

If I reference the older (2013) BR218 MFX+ manual, the function table has the usual "Squealing brakes OFF" function pre-configured at F5
However it also has a "Sound effect: Squealing brakes **" at F14 - NOTE : NO OFF
the appended note is "Only for “World of Operation“" - NOTE : NO "...do not move (do not map)"

WOO
In the BR218 one can see that the Brake-Lever (which is in the WOO CabImage and has no equivalent in the base throttle mode) does trigger the brake sound on. NOT "sound OFF" (Actually it is hard to distinguish between what the loco would normally do when speed was wound down)

OFF
So, can I hypothesise that the newer manual have INCORRECTLY cut and pasted the "OFF" into the table?
To support this I point to the fact that in the 37423 Koploper table we find the "Sound effect: Squealing brakes" with "OFF" TWICE

Move/ReMap
I am still at a loss to understand this comment, For my BR218 - re-maping the function (which is assigned to the "Alternative Sound" function) appears to behave like any other mapping.

Well IMHO after playing MWOO last night for the first time, the way in which the squeeling brakes are " applied" (and yes that probably is a pun) is quite differently to the normal braking sound that comes on as the Lok runs down to a stop.
I found that with my E93, if I ignored the SIFA, which without a speaker connected to the CS2 was only indicated by the knob flashing a brighter red, and sometimes if you noticed the small print along the lower edge of the cab window, that as Cab Control with SIFA in action the brakes were squeeling rather persistently, as it attempted to slow the Lok, and would turn off once the SIFA button was pressed (either on screen or LH Control Knob of the CS2).
So IMHO whilst the audible sound is much the same, the way in which it is applied (that word again Wink ) is quite different ThumpUp

Sorry Peter I forgot to check the Cab definition values at the time, but I think they are already listed for the BR218, BR64 and E93 Blushing
I did ring Dennis and ask him to see if they were accessable on the CS2, but as that requires getting into the CV Menu, it was a big no no without the said Lok present on track Mad Unlike the Ecos and CS1-R in which the ESU software records everything, and it is there until you change or delete the Lok from the Loco list, and that said if I new what the CV number is that I was looking for, I could look them up in the edit mode of my CS1-R and find that Definition value, probably Unsure

This "Playing" was carried out in the "Workshop" of Dennis "The Train Dr" list member drwhitl ThumpUp
Thing is he has a CS2 but no MFX+ Loks as yet, whereas I have a few, but no CS2 Smile

So Webmasters Peter, et al, in which thread do I report on my personal MWOO experiences of last night in ?? (Pics & videos included)

Of the 5 preannounced Cabs expected, Cab#11 has been deleted

The other 4 are all electrics.
Note: the Change log offers names for the new Cab IDs that are out of sync (They call 33=BR403 when the update refers to 45=BR403)

Comment: All other (existing) images are reloaded with this update - not sure if there are any fixes but one issue with the Diesel Function definition (F3) being duplicated still exists

Future possibilities ... speculation
The Automat... reference has been appearing in a couple of places over recent times.

In the mfxcvs template it is seen in both a Core definition section and the Signal configuration block (Block 11)
Albeit the Automat field is currently shown with only one option available ( "0" )

With the availability of CS2 v4.0.1(3) we can now perform a CV(mfx) read from the signals insides (shown as version 1.0).
And while most of the Block11 template fields are seen represented, the one relating to Automat... is not

While I cannot presum that the Automat.. function will actually see the light of day, and maybe not with the current (version) of signals, The appearance of the lever on the Krokodil is raising expectations.

That sounds like the start of putting mfx+ into basic locos from the HOBBY range (or is that now the Start UP range?).

Steven, can you please elaborate?
What did the booklet that came with the item show?

I have found the image you show, appears when ID=33 is selected on both a CS2 and CS3.

Cannot answer your question about Facebook, because I do not know where you got this picture from.

But have you seen this new section on Märklin's website already? Of course, only via the German one available.

Thanks for asking.

While I authored the post, the image came from a CS3 - anyone with a mfx+ decode can do the same.
I am not precious about its use. The webmaster may be concerned if it is linked to directly from an external site.

For those of us who do not like (pun intended) facebook, it might be nice to know what it is used for (A separate thread preferably)

The recent CS2 "cleanup" update to 4.2.9(0) appeared to do quite a bit of housekeeping with a whole lot of the WOO images being (re)uploaded.

While there are no new actual "definition" profiles that can be added to this cabmode list, it is worth mentioning that each of these "Cab Themes" is a compilation of a "background image" and a whole lot of "component images."

The list of backgrounds may be seen to have a few variants that are not yet "fully ready for use".

Make of them what you will.

UserPostedImage imagename = Class_66

UserPostedImageimagename = roter_pfeil (? 37869 ? )

If you already have a Series 1200 with a blue nose, we now have a Yellow and Red variant
UserPostedImageimagename = serie1200_rot
UserPostedImageimagename = serie1200_gelb (? poss 37130 ?)

UserPostedImageimagename = unimog (Probably for 39940)

No, the other major change is that they have refreshed the ms2 update so it provides the correct track box update.

Shows manuals for
- FS65 RedArrow - (as above)

- FS42 UniMog
UserPostedImage

- FS69 Ce6-8I_Koefferli
UserPostedImage

There is no reference to the actual CS2 / CS3 firmware that provides the required background support (definitions).

The later one (Ce6-8I_Koefferli) was not earlier telegraphed.
Other , earlier telegraphed themes have still yet to appear with a full definition file
