Dear All,

Great excitement yesterday. A registered package from Germany arrives in Houston. My "new" 81569 starter set. OK so I set it all up with my up transformer from the UK to power controller. I added some straights and a couple of wagons purchased on line. Here it is:

Ruhr Valley Scene

I have a couple of newbie questions:

1. The set is "new" but was obviously made some time ago. The loco is running very nicely as promised by seller. Should I keep running it in as it is, or add a tiny amount of oil to gears on the bottom. I am very afraid of over lubricating such a tiny thing as this.

2. The seller said it is the 5 pole version, is there any way to confirm this?

Many thanks for all the diagrams and strip down videos etc. I hope I don't need to take it apart just yet.

Hello!

Yes, you need to oil from time to time. The brochure below it's from another one, but the instructions and pictures are the same.

Since this isn't a new item, anything could happen.

So, you need to open the case and see the inside cube (the motor). If it have 3 winding it's a 3 pole motor... 5, it's 5 pole.

Here are some tips and a good website to learn about Z Scale.

In a short time you'll see how good it's also that scale.

Cheers,

Walter
