I voted "She does not support my hobby, no interest in MRR." Strictly speaking this is not true as such now, because I'm now living on my own. My wife left just on 4 years ago, and when she was with me, that was her attitude.

Yes, she support, but do not have that interest... Maybe once, not more than twice a year, she plays around...

On the 'etc' version...

My brother started an N gauge layout and his wife also bought into the idea.
She's quite into arty-crafty stuff and has a wonderful collection of cloth dolls that she's made herself. These are dolls like elves, fairies and other various fantasy types.

She described her layout idea to me, which I won't elaborate on too much, but it's based around an elf/fairy wonderland in a sort of bushland setting.
The train itself is yet to be assembled; but from what she was saying, it will end up being a mix of off-beat era 1 type carriages. You know, they need to look 'fantastic' at some level.

So here's a woman that's interested, if for completely different reasons. She nags my brother for the same reasons as the others...Flapper

She also went along with us to the Brisbane train show this year and really loved it.

I am very fortunate to have a wife that is very supportive of my MRR hobby. When we visit a model train shop, I am the one who has to be the 'hand-brake' and tell her that we cannot afford to buy all the locos and wagons etc that she likes. She does not remember what we have purchased and tries to persuade me to buy more locos than I want. She is often the best sales person in the shop!

She does not enjoy the bench-work, wiring etc of the layout but loves doing scenery with me and has a more artistic eye than I have.

I am fortunate that my wife's support makes MRR a family hobby shared by both of us. She also encourages our grand-children to get involved whenever possible.

Mine is very supportive although not participating very often , she approves of my indulgences & I approve of her indulgent collection of porcelain cats which have been brought on our overseas tours . On our first European trip when we were at "M" & I was buying a few [ many] items she commented that she thought I would have spent much more . I replied that we would have to make a few trips in coming years to satisfy that idea . We visited Eurospoor in 2011 & she spent the whole time with me looking & buying trains for 2 days , SWMBO actually spent more than I did when she spied a King Ludwig complete set & decided that it was a essential to buy. She then spied a Neuschwanstein castle at one dealer & this was also brought, carried round Germany for the next 2 weeks & then back to OZ with no damage occurring considering that it was fully built . With a new house & a new layout in the offering soon I know she will be assisting me in scenery & building kits while I do the hard work .Retirement comes in 8 months so it will be all guns to have a working layout before xmas next year.

I voted "very interested", but "very supportive" is a better answer.
Mrs Kelly completely tolerates my interest in all things Märklin, and has a good eye for several things:

• "pretty" locomotives i.e. special colour schemes etc... I confess I like the "pretty" locos as well...
  
• small details for the future layout, like a Christmas scene we've just bought some figures for.

Mrs Kelly will be in charge of layout "details"!

I would say "she is not interested in MRR, but doesn't complain about my hobby", however didn't find proper answer in the list...
Well, we are tolerant about each other's hobbies and understand that every positive hobby has the right to exist...

I voted she supports my hobby, but not very interested.

However she does appreciate the work I put into it and admire the outcome and sometimes have fun playing a little bit with the trains.

She does think it's a good hobby that requires lots of different skills and creativity and praises me for the work I am doing and sometimes I will ask her for advise as she has a good artistic eye.

I am generally allowed to do as much pottering in the garage as I want to and normally manage to find an hour or two in the evening after the baby have gone to bed

Supports and interested, as well as my girls... but not as much as me of course.

I give them decision making powers. That helps... they work on the layout with me,
even wiring and we all enjoy sitting around the table some evenings to work on model building.

I try to relax and not put too much pressure... when they see I am not uptight about it,
they join in and "work"....

LOL. My girlfriend is a quilter too. :)

My girlfriend is supportive, she does not understand much of it, but she likes to see me playing with the trains. Her favourite locomotive is the 01 150, because is has the "cute little black wagon it drags around". She does not like the "red one" (her definition of all era V and VI locomotives, she thinks they are all the same). Oh well... :)

She always buys me train-stuff for my birthday and Christmas. :-) So, she's a keeper! :-)

I feel sorry for you guys who have a hard time with your spouses because of this hobby.
Even though my wife has no personal interest in trains. ("They all look the same to her"), she DOES support me a great deal; Both materially and spiritually!
The house we bought was specifically prepared for a huge layout in the basement.
For X-mas and B-day presents I have almost carte-blanche; Just give her the #ref and a place where to get it, and miraculously the desired piece will show up sooner or later.
Together we have visited MiWuLa, München (Deutsches Museum), Göppingen (...) and several other model-railroad displays/shows in both Denmark and Spain.
I think she is just happy to be travelling, and it seems like she is also proud to show off the layout at home, to any guests we have.
-Maybe she is also content to know that her husband always stays at home, instead of sitting and drinking in one of the local bars all day... (lol)

Lately, while my model-train activity-level is on a low, she is being equally supportive of my new-found joy in Lego, and we are now doing Lego-exhibitions together all around Spain. (not only visiting, but actively exposing my pieces to the public)

So... IN THAT REGARD (=partner) it has certainly paid off big time, to change culture and life, and move all the way from Denmark to Spain.
On the other hand, life in Spain is currently quite a rotten deal, so I guess one can never get EVERYTHING perfect...

Spain was fine when I came here, so I hope things will get better again soon.
