Before I convert my 3352 crocodile to digital I need to replace the broken selector switch that selects between pick-up shoe and overhead pantograph. The existing switch is not bolted on but it appears to be riveted on as shown in the attached picture. Before I drill this out, does anyone know for sure whether this is indeed a rivet or some sort of hollow pin? Suggested removal method? Once I get the broken part off, any suggestions on how to mount the new part? I assume I can try and thread the hole and find a matching bolt. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Peter

Hi Peter yes it is a rivet and you could do as you say: drill it out and thread. However be careful make sure you use a screw with countersunk head as not to block re-installing the middle part of the body Alternatively, I'd first try to glue it back together with cyano-acrylic glue. If that fails then you can go back to plan A. Good luck |

Peter,
another thing I would look out for your brush holder shaft, make sure it is right against the brush plate itself and this again can be fixed with a tiny drop of super glue but don't leave the brushes or armature inside. you will find your loco will run much better and smoother.
good luck with the repair
regards.,
John
