I am converting a Wurttemberg C/Br 18.1 using a LoPi V4 decoder. I am having lots of trouble getting the slow speed (steps 1 and 2) to run smoothly. Steps 3 and up are fine. Does anyone have a CV setting for "K slow"-CV 52 and "I slow"-CV 51 that worked in your own loko? TIA

But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

Hi Mat.

O only just read your post. I have two Wurtemberg C Class locos, but they are fitted with Lokpilot V.3 decoders. These locos have Faulhaber motors. I used the CV values recommended by ESU and both run well. I have another two waiting for conversion and I will be using Lokpilot V.4 like you when I get around to converting them.

Have you used the CV values for Faulhaber motors recommmended by ESU for the Lokpilot V.4 in the decoder manual? If not, I suggest you try them. The values are as follows:
CV2 4
CV52 32
CV53 140
CV54 80
CV55 50
CV56 255

Let us know if they solve your slow speed problem.

Geoff

I got it. This is one of those situations where programming from the ECoS controller works better than the LokProgrammer. I started with the ESU recommendations for a Faulhaber motor. LokProgrammer has several different motor types you can choose from and it will write the appropriate value into the fields. I found the settings for I-slow and K-slow, two new CVs ESU has added in the V4 LoPi and LoSound decoders, were terrible. These two CVs affect motor running characteristics for the first two speed steps. I then changed I-slow (inertia) from zero to five and moved K-slow (influence) from 32 to 85. K (influence at speed steps 3 and up) which LokProgrammer defaulted at 80 plus 5. These were suggestions from the LoPi manual. It still ran poorly. So on the programming track, where I could make changes quickly and immediately see the results, I started dropping K-slow by a value of five until I ended up at 10. So the settings are ESU default and CV52, K-slow, at 10 and CV51, I-slow, at 5.
