I visited Shanghai last week. They have the worlds fastest commercial train line. It is a so-called maglev train that does not run with wheels on regular rails, but levitates by use of magnets. The official top speed is 431 km/h. It runs between the Longyang Road station in south-east Shanghai and Shanghai Pudong international airport.

Our top speed was "only" 430 km/h.

We noted that the windscreen was broken in the rear end of the train. It had obviously hit a bird or something.

We never travelled at less than 200 Km/h on board Chinese trains. Click here for pictures of high speed trains in China. Cool

Pierre.
