Memoba (Vienna) memoba.at is announcing that the LS Models Sets for the CNL Komet (Hamburg-Zurich) are now available. There are three sets listed, 49040, 49041 and 49042. Each set contains three coaches and the entire consist includes Sleeperette, Couchette, Sleepers (Doubledeck) Couchette with Bike/Baggage and Restaurant coaches.
The appropriate Lok for this train would be a BR101, 120 or similar for Germany and a Re 4/4II or Re 460 for the Swiss part of the route.
Each coach is 1/87 with a length of 30cm, which may be a little too long for those using the classic M Tracks or narrow radii.

I would probably have gone for this set, but I already have many of the coaches, purchased individually over the past five years or so.

A similar series of sets, in the newer DB/CNL red/white livery including a BR101 will be released by LSM in the future.

Thanks Mike. An attractive looking train. What era did it run, or is it still running? What route did it follow?

The CNL trains started running in the 1990s and are still running today. You can find the current information here: http://www.citynightline...line/view/en/index.shtml
or here: http://www.citynightline...rosch_1213_en_130325.pdf

CityNightLine began in the early 1990s as a joint venture between Germany (DB), Austria (OBB) and Switzerland (SBB). CNL was administered by the DACH Hotelzug Group (D=Germany, A=Austria and CH=Switzerland). The first trains ran in 1995. The routes included former EN (Euronight) and NZ (Nachtzug) in several European countries, including Zuerich-Hamburg, Zurich-Amsterdam, Zurich-Dresden, Amsterdam-Vienna, Amsterdam-Berlin (Dresden).

The trains were often run as combined trains, e.g. the trains leaving Zurich often consisted of sections going to Dresden, Hamburg and Amsterdam. Along the way, the sections were detached and combined with sections from trains coming from Vienna and Munich and Dresden/Berlin before continuing on to their respective destinations.

After a few years, the OBB decided to cease it's participation in this venture. A number of coaches in the CNL fleet were transferred to the OBB and can be seen today in the original blue or new red/grey livery. The DB also transferred a number of CNL coaches from it's part of the fleet to it's DB Autozug operation.

In 1998, the DBAG acquired the remaining interests in CityNightLine from the SBB and it became a fully owned subsidiary of the German railroad. Within a few years, the DBAG integrated it's DBAZ (Autozug) and DBNZ (Nachtzug) divisions under the Citynightline banner. The coaches were repainted in the red/white livery already used by DB Autozug and DB Nachtzug.

LS Models has also released models in the intermediate and current liveries of the group. A number of these models have been rereleased or are planned for rerelease in the near future. An overview of these models can be found here: http://www.reisezugwagen.eu/?cat=32

Esteban,

since you already have the 49005 and 49006 sets, you already have the sleeperettes (Bpm), diner and couchette with bike compartment. All you would need to do to complete a CNL set would be to find the reissues of the 49002 and 49003 sets to get two couchette and two double deck sleeper coaches. You would then have a complete train with 8 coaches. It would be a little less expensive than the sets.

You can try here: http://eyro.ch/onlinesho...?cPath=21_27_184_188_485

Of the new sets, the first one 49040 has two double deck sleepers (WLABm and WLBm) and a single couchette, which would give you a seven coach consist with the four you already have (with no duplicates)

The main difference between the coaches in the sets and the previously released ones, including the recent 49005 and 49006 is that the new sets come with the destination signs (in the door windows) for the CNL Komet and presumably the coach numbers as well.
