I have a little question. I received my new Marklin catalogue in the mail a few days ago, and I've been looking at a steam engine that has Telex coupling. My question is, is the modern digital engines with Telex couplers compatible for running in conventional mode? I have an older layout with old M-track and standard 20+ year old standard transformers, and I'm wondering if the new Telex couplers will operated like the old ones did when they first developed Telex coupling, or whether they can only be operated in digital or Delta mode?

Hi Jerry,

As far as I know a digital loco with telex couplers will only work in digital mode only. A delta loco with telex couplers will work in Delta and Digital with change of direction. I am not sure about loco with delta and telex in AC mode.

Hope this helpsCool

Hi Jerry, Delta Loks with Telex operate on analog mode in a slighty different way as the old Telex Loks, but they work.
The sequence changes as follows, for each reverse pulse:
Forwards w/o Telex.
Backwards w/o Telex.
Forwards with Telex.
Backwards with Telex.
etc, etc.
Best regards,
