Hi all

I have recently bought a Marklin Turntable (7286) and I'm now trying to get in running, but unfortunately failed! Crying

I am using a ESU ECoS 50200 controller and a Marklin electronic decoder - 7687. I have C Track.

What I have done thus far is:

1. Inserted the flat ribbon cable into the decoder (7687) from the turntable
2. Connected a red cable from the ECoS controller (B) to the first B (left hand side) of the decoder (7687).
3. Connected two brown cables from the ECoS controller (0) - one inserted into the first '0' of the decoder, the second brown cable has been inserted into the next '0' position

I have not used any of the other ports (0 B rt gn ge) on the decoder as I don't quite know what they are for yet (maybe lights??).

I then turned on my controller and followed the ESU instructions starting on page 25. Steps followed include:

Open the turnout control mode
Open up an empty panel
Open the configuration mode
(grey frame appeared)
Touched the panel and the 'configuration dialogue' opened
The Marklin 7686 turntable decoder was automatically displayed with an address of 225

It is now that I started to have problems : switching to programming mode.

As per the instructions on page 26 under 14.3 Programming the turntable, I turned my command station to STOP, and then back to GO. I pressed the INPUT button within 5 seconds expecting it to change to programming mode, but nothing happened!

Can anyone please advise if I have made any wrong steps, missed any steps, got my wiring wrong, or perhaps I need to do something to the actual decoder????.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received,

Kind regards, Richard Smile

The 7687 manual gives you instructions on how to make up a diagnostic circuit board using 3 LED's and a few other components. This is then used for a visual indicator of the state of the decoder and can be used for troubleshooting purposes.

I suggest that you should completely wire the decoder as per the diagram I posted for you - I can't remember off the top of my head what they are all for, but it's best to completely wire everything up, then ask questions if you still have problems.

Three simple question about yours Ecos.
1. Are yours Ecos standing in MM function?
2. Is yours keyboard to control 7687 standing in number 15?
3. Did you used second trafo to feed decoder 7687?

Look at this:
https://www.marklin-user...Table-7286-with-cs2.aspx

Remember...yours keyboard in Ecos must been stand at number 15 to setup decoder 7687 and use second trafo to feed power to the decoder 7687.

I took your advice and added the wiring (which I thought was not needed) to the decoder. The turntable then came to life.....albeit for only a short while. I was entering all the tracks into the program and after 4 were entered it stopped. Other attempts have been not successful, so I think I will take up Goofy's advice and try a second transformer. The ECoS instruction manual recommends this, so I think it is the way to go.

Thanks again for your advice and prompt answer.

Thanks for your reply,

Yes, I agree I need a second transformer. The ECoS User manual suggests a Marklin Transformer # 6002, but I believe this is very old. Do you know which Marklin transformer I need?
Alternatively, I have a Faller Transformer (#180641) - is this okay to use?

Thanks.

Yes so long as you use 15-16 volts AC as feeder power to the decoder 7687.
But don´t use to much power consumption...i recommended maximum 2 amps.
