Hello

I want to put current couplers in my intercity wagons and can use 7319, or 72020/72021 current-conducting couplers. Can anyone please recommend which is the best option.

Thanks

Hi!

I'd probably go for 72020 or 72021 as they allow you to separate the coaches.

I'm not sure if the gap between coaches is smaller with 7319. But 7319 makes it more difficult to handle the train.

Tip: when you try to uncouple 72020/1, push the coaches together. If you don't do that you may find separating coaches a bit difficult.
Regards
Tom

Hello!

I have both of them in different coaches/trains... To me, 7319 it's a litle bit more reliable (electrically speaking), but 7202x it's better to handle (uncoupling)...
If you exchange the coaches sometimes (and/or separate them time-to-time), 7202x it's the best choice...
7319 is also cheaper than 7202x.

Maybe is a kind of taste.

Regards,

Walter

The gap is indeed a little bigger, but ar least for me the ease for uncoupling with 72020/1 worth it

Hello All

I use 7202x current conducting couplers at passenger cars 26.4cm, however sometimes they cause DERAIL. I have C track and I notice the derail happens at R1 curves. The front wheels of the second wagon lift up when the pass R1 curve. Do you have any idea how can I solve this? shall I use 7319 instead?

Thanks

What were the couplings before you went to 7202x? Were they already Märklin close couplers (eg. 7203) that were working fine, or was it a differnt type you had before and the general use of the close couplers may be an issue.

I'm just thinking it would be odd for a 7203 style close coupler to work just fine, while the conducting variant of that causes a problem - unless the installation of the rest of the stuff in the wheel-sets/bogies has caused something to bind (eg wires) such that the wheelsets cannot rotate fully or easily anymore (in which case you may still have the same issue even with other types of couplers).

Thanks for the ideas. I will check with the old couplers (7203) and will check light installation as well. Will let u know the results. Thanks again
