I just bought a nice E 10.2 from a dispatched mega starter set. The DB registering number is E10 292
E 10 is a 4 axles locomotive. 2 bogies, each with 2 axles.
On each bogie there is an axle at the end of the loco just under driver's cabs (cab 1 & 2), and another one in the middle of the loco: the inner axle .
My concern is only about the flanks of the truck on the axle box of the two inner axles, both. (one on each truck)
Let's take the inner axle of the truck Under cab N°2 :
on one side there is a kind of cardan connected to a black box (could be a generator ?). Obviously this detail is a separate part that is not molded with the flank of bogie. On the other side of the truck this part does not exist.
On the inner axle of truck cab No. 1 this part does not exist, on any side.
I want to know if this is normal.
I ask other owners of E10.2 era 3 if they have the same configuration. (Any E.10.2 ref 29440 or any other ref of E10.2 era 3...) Wether one "cardan + black boxes" or 2 (one on one side or one on each side of the Lok) ?
What bothers me is that there is a small hole on the frame of the truck Cab 1. Tipically this kind of hole on which another part can be inserted. I guess it is the same mold for both trucks. It is as well possible that on this truck, & if it is existing, this part has been lost.
thank you all.

Hello,

Congratulations on your purchase, the E10 292 is a very nice electricThumpUp , it looks & runs great, and we enjoy the simple sound module as well. As to your question, we purchased the whole set new last year and our locomotive is exactly the same as you described, with the hole on one side mechanical device on the other. I hope you will enjoy yours as much as we do ours.

Cheers,

Gordon

I believe what you are describing is the speedometer drive, which is fed from one of the axles only.
