Grandpa train from back in the day have cars and lots of track and engine runs! Problem is very old transformer 220 volt Marklin super need something 110 ac to power the set? My dumb question is this a 16 volt DC input to the train or acConfused and leave it alone or make it digital? your the pros not me!

Welcome to the forum, yes the train runs off 16 volts, AC, not DC.

You should be able to pick up a good Marklin 110vac controller to run it as-is without any problem.

You can also convert it to Digital if you wish but it depends on what condition it is in for how good it will run afterward.

Many here would suggest leave it as it is and treat yourself a new or newer loco to run digital, but of course if it came from your Grandpa then it's got sentimental value. PLenty of old loco's have been converted and running well.

I have the F800 in boxed and it is a AC analog as steve said.
