I have bought a Roco 68402 [1] (SBB Ae 3/6 II 10403).

I have not been able to modify its default address with the Märklin Mobile station before tonight. But I don't know for certain how I did it!

The Roco 10732 leaflet "Digital Locomotive Decoder" page 9 tells me to "Press the ESC key" to start programming. I think this is the crux. I see no description of an ESC button in the 60653 Mobile Station manual.

I think ESC is "SHIFT and red CONTROL knob down"? The loco started to blink (no matter what magic I might have done). And when I then programmed it, either with ADDRESS or CV1 = 4 and then CONFIRM, it blinked again and went back to normal. And ran like the dream it is.

Is this how I could have done it?

Q1. Now to be sure, what is the" Märklin ESC-button" that Roco talks about?
Q2. And how do I cancel it, without having to go through a programming sequence?
Q3. I probably need to know more?

Hi!

The Roco instructions talk about Mobile Station (1), not Mobile Station 2.

Just register the loco manually as DCC and specify it's current address (if known).
Then just follow the MS2 instructions to change the address or other settings.
Regards
Tom

Thanks Tom,

so, 60653 is Mobile Station 2?

My MS2 booklet then, is not much help (or I can't see the wood for only trees) (even if I am somewhat used to this kind of reading, being a programmer myself..)

Any concrete tip to "hold my hand" through it?
