The "Modellbahnschau Odenwald" (http://www.modellbahnschau-odenwald.de/) in Fürth/Odenwald, Germany - not to be mistaken with Fürth near Nürnberg - safeguarded and put on display several legendary German layouts acquired from former operators in Germany and Austria. In a 450 sqm hall there are, inter alia, the layouts:

"Von der Nordsee bis zu den Alpen" = from the North Sea to the Alps
http://www.modellbahnsch...rie_kueste_bis_alpen.htm

"Dürnstein" by Josef Brandl, modelling the town of Dürnstein on the river Danube
http://www.modellbahnsch...ergalerie_duernstein.htm

Eselsbrück'sche Eisenbahn, modelling a secondary line ion the 1960s
http://www.modellbahnsch...rgalerie_eselsbrueck.htm

"Sherman-Hill" by Host Meier, a US themed layout

A nice compilation of photographs can also be found here:

Another layout they acquired is the former MWO (Modellbahnwelt Oberhausen). This one is not yet on display at Fürth, but is announced for 2013.

Yes, they have changed the web appearance. For seeing the pictures, go here:
http://www.modellbahnwelt-odenwald.de/
and navigate on website by clicking on tab "Bildergallerie" in the upper part of the page which opens a menu box on the left side listing the names of individual layouts. Klicking on layout name takes you to the respective photo gallery.

Anyway the other link leads to better pictures.

Greetings - Henning Mellow

Found a great cab ride video some may enjoy of the Dürnstein layout by Josef Brandl

Dürnstein features in at least one of Marklin's Bibliothek books.
Don't look back, your not heading that way.
