I am watching a Marklin locomotive on ebay that has had it's original 6090 decoder replaced by a Kuehn-Digital programmable decoder. I have no experience of these. Can anyone tell me more about them? Is it an advantage over the original?

Any information would be helpful.

I don't have own experience with Kühn decoders, but they have a good reputation.
AFAIK some Viessmann decoders actually are Kühn decoders.

Some Kühn decoders IIRC do not support AC analogue operation.

Advantages over the original: it should support DCC so your MS2 lets you choose between 14, 28, and 126 speed steps. With the 6090 acceleration and braking delay cannot be switched off (the new decoder should support that).

Knowing the exact decoder type should allow you to download the decoder manual to check its features.
But eBay sellers often do not know what they are selling ...
Regards
Tom

Thanks Tom. The seller does not specify which model decoder. I don't think he knows himself.
