Hi all.
I've just got hold of an S88 (6088) and I'm a bit confused as the connections for the ribbon cable on the S88 have 6 pins whereas the ribbon cable only has five wires.
I can plug it in but either the left or right pin obviously is unconnected.
Is this right?

I did do a search on the forum but I couldn't find this being mentioned.
Thanks for any help.

Marklin HO using M track. Now reverted to analogue as I find it has more character - and I understand it!

Hello Paul,

No the cable should be 6 pol for the 6088 !!! At least both of mine S-88 has 6 pol cable,,,

If you have lost/don't have the original cable you can always get a 6089 which is a 2 meter cable,,,

Your ribbon cable could be the one for 6015 or 6017 boosters....may be ?

Thanks for the quick replies.
I suppose this is one of the dangers of buying secondhand. The unit was in the original box but with the wrong cable.
It's not worth sending it back to Germany as the postage will cost nearly the price of a new cable.
I've ordered a 6089 cable today so hopefully that should sort it.

I know this has probably been asked somewhere but what is the 'T' connection for on the S88 please?

If you are connecting S88 to CS2, you have to connect the T connection to the ground (brown cable) output from CS2, in order S88 to function properly.

Hi All
I have connected my S88 to my CS2 and programmed my 1st turnout in as A1 and A2. I have also connected the brown earth wire to the S88. The turnout operates via the keyboard and the manual operation on the memory screen. The 2299 contact track is connected to sockets 1 and 2 on the S88 however I am not getting any operation from the 2299 circuit track.
Any suggestions please.
Thanks
Steve

Standard response.
- PreTest (don't bother with the MEMORY if these basics are not working)
- - Define a sensor ICON on the LAYOUT panel
- - Verify that it changes by triggering at the S88 (wire between "T" and sensor number) - this tests the s88 connection
- - Re verify by manually triggering your layout sensor (your 2299) - this tests the wiring to the sensor and the grounding (reference) is intact (refer previous posts in this thread)

- Setup (on the Memory Panel)
- - Ensure you have allocated a sensor ID to your memory slot (you state A1 and A2 slots are used but this does not imply sensors 1 and 2 - you need to enter their values at the bottom for the setup page for each)
- - Ensure the "mode" is set to Manual + Layout (At the right of each line of 8 on the the memory page is a button which needs to be toggled from Manual only (Hand) to Manual + Layout (Hand + Loco)

Most common pitfalls
- Mode not set to Man+Layout
- Ground Reference not intact
- Damaged cable from CU to S88
