I know that there has been some discussion on loco motors before, but since Santa has offered to bring me a nice brand new up to date V200 to pull my Blue Enzian coach set, the way I see it is I have a choice of the following;

Märklin H0 Diesellok 39803 V 200 with MFX, Sounds and Soft Drive Sinus motor

or

Märklin H0 Diesellok 39821 V 200 with FX, Sounds, C-sine motor

(I could also consider this; Märklin HO Diesellok 37803 V200 - but this one seems a little dated now compared to the other two.)

So open forum who recommends which of the above? is either one better than the other? Do you owe one or both of the above and what are your thoughts?

Thanks for your thoughts

BR

Glenn

Hi, Glenn,

39803 is an era IV model, so maybe not the best choice (with respect to prototype) for an era III train.
39804 is era III.

37803 and 39821 have the same sound module, no sound decoder. The sound is not state of the art. The motor of the 37803 might be audible when digital sound is on.
I like the big C Sine the 39821 has. Very smooth runner. Don't expect too much from the sound.

Quiet motor: both SDS and C Sine.
Better sound: mfx decoder.

IMHO the 39803 is a very good choice - if you don't mind the incorrect labels (BR 220 instead if BR V 200.0).
Regards
Tom

Hi Glenn,

What about the new V200 Era III model 37805 ?

I have 37805, 39804 and 39821 but have converted them all to DCM.

The model 39804 was the model that was introduced together with the Blauer Enzian wagen set,,,

Well special thanks to Tom, 'Foumaro', Ian, Steven and Pål, for your replies and thoughts, I am grateful. The problem with the V200 is there are so many variants to think about..........

I think in view of the new model being released the 37805, this is 1958, same as the 'Blauer Enzian', mfx sound, and from what I know the five pole motor is okay. I think I will add the 39821 to a wish list for next year.........................

I hope I have chosen wisely and thanks for all your thoughts.

Hi Glenn,

We are both working to the same plan, Max can't write his own letter yet to Santa, so I said, I could do it for him. Wink Smile

Ian.
