Good afternoon from Virginia, USA. On the left is a #5900 1 gauge straight 300mm. On the right is a #5903 1 gauge straight 300mm. I am unable to fit them together. Is there an adapter or other solution? MANY THANKS! REED. Edited by user 13 October 2016 19:15:02(UTC)

Hi,
I know two ways: You can replace the old connectors with the new ones. They are sold seperatly: ref 59095 (older number ref. 56091) . If you use the clamps ref 56031 you can also cut the old connector to the length of the new one. That's the easier way, it is sometimes a little bit difficult to remove the old connectors.
Regards
Markus

Markus Your second suggestion is one I'll go with. Thank you. Regards, Reed.

Hello all, my original post of this topic was 4 years ago. Have there been any updates such as new rail joiners that will allow these two track pieces to easily be joined together or is Markus' answer still the way to go? Many thanks, Reed

There are two things you could do here. The real fix is to get the 59095 marklin 1 gauge track connectors, the other is to cut the older longer connectors down to size. The older connectors can not be pushed in all the way because the newer track does not have the same gap under neath the track to fix the problem. And I know that my local marklin retailer ( ACEuro trains) can get a pack of fifty track connectors for around $40( i believe it might actually be a little bit less).
Hope this helps
