Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix one of the wheels that keep falling off on my Steam loco?

The wheel is loose by the axle. I thought about re-glueing it, but I'm not sure what type of glue I should be using.

Any recommendations would be appreciated?

Ken

Ken:

I actually used a couple drops of super glue on two locomotives and it has worked fine. You have to be very careful not to get it on any gears or anything of course. Also, the wheels were just loose so the super glue was enough to lock everything in place. I think I also saw a thread on this subject before and someone mentioned using loctite glue as a good product to use, which makes sense.

Hopefully this helps.

Hi Ken,

Like Chris already mentioned Loctite thread locker usually gives fair to good results. It's worth giving it a try I think.

In the end if space between the wheel and the axle is too large then there is no other option than fitting a new wheel and a new axle, I'm afraid.
Kind regards,

Hi Ken,

I had the same, and glue wouldn't hold. I then roughened up the surface of the axle scratching it with an old knife. That fixed it.

Good luck,
Gregor
