I've had to replace my gas station since it was quite a modern design and did not fit my era III layout. I bought this a few months ago, but finally decided to build it this past weekend. Every piece has been painted. While the Europeans do a great job on these kits in both quality and quantity of colors used for the moldings, plastic still just looks like plastic.

Now I just need to populate it and add some advertising signs.

But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

Hi Biedmatt,

Welcome to the B-215 club !
As a true fan of the B-214/215 and B-4914 model, I say: F A N T A S T I C !!!! ThumpUp

Do you have the transfers ??

I went to a lot of trouble to find an unbuilt kit, they are rare.

The B-215 was in the Faller program from 1961 to 1979.
However, in 2006 the model made a short comeback (in different colors) as item 141072 for the Faller Go Kart slotcars.
Many MRR shops have this new 2006 model still in stock, so those who want a brand new Cafe ...

Thank you all for the kind words. I am very happy with how it turned out. The construction delay was mostly getting the courage to build it. I was terrified I'd mess something up beyond repair.

The old Faller kits are just wonderful offerings. Eclectic, unusual structures that will most likely never be seen again, excepting a very few as Marco has described.

Marco is correct about the reissue. It is shown in Walther's HO catalog 2009 page 480, item# 272-141072. It appears to have a revised base without the fuel pumps.
Marco: PM sent with my e-mail for the scan of the decals.

Hi Ian,
Let me also welcome you to the B-215 club. ThumpUp
If you have bought the one which I think it is, it has the original special motor and company symbol !
I can't hardly wait to see the photo's.

Yes, the one in the link you gave me, it was sold with the water tower.

I got the 2 of them for 21 Euro's.

Hi Ian,

Wow, that is a very good deal for a good B-215 model including motor and company sign !!
I paid 3 or 4 weeks ago € 17,50 for only a motor and I have also seen that a motor was sold for € 25,00 on Dutch "Marktplaats".

Hi Marco,

Couple of photo's of the B-215, you can see the water tower in the background.

The light works and I think the motor is turning but the sign is very loose in the "holder" and only does half a turn or so and then stops.

Work in progress...Smile

Sorry, poor light conditions for photo's.

Ian.

Hi Ian,

Great photo's !!

What you describe is totally normal !
It is correct that the company symbol fits very loosely in the the brass socket.

It is not a conventional electro motor as we know it, but it is a so called "Vibro brush motor", such a motor has no power (strength) at all.
If the symbol only makes a half rotation, then it is probably coming a bit against the roof.
You only need to center the roof a bit.

Hi Ian,

ThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp

Talking about B-215 spare parts:
This morning I have started with the maintenance and restoration of my three B-215 motors.
One is rusted, from another one the felt brushes are worn, and one is 200% mint but lamp broken. Cursing
I try to fix two good ones out of the three.

Perhaps I may give you some advise to pay good attention when you buy a B-215 motor, that the motor is complete.
I have the part of the motor that is most rare and most often absent marked with an arrow in the first picture.

With some force you can also push the chrome bus/cone out of the motor.
(I had to do this to change it for another).

Hi Ryan

Welcome ThumpUp

A nice looking cafe. I see the box shows a Mercedes badge but the actual cafe has a VW badge. Were there different versions available?

Hi Mike

In the box are the other Badges (Mercedes , CocoCola, Sinalco, Ford and the Shell Badge ). I put the VW badge on the top, because it is my favourite one.
