Recently I aquired a 1950-1952 DL800 but I do not have the maintenance booklet. I took some of the locomotive appart but would like to know the best way to lubricate the various parts. Any additional maintenance info would also be appreciated. If one of the members has the DL800 maintenance booklet or a copy of it could you please share it with me.

Best Regards
Al

Hi Al,

I attach the manual you are looking for. For the helical gears I recommend to use grease instead of oil. For example TRIX-gear-grease or ROCO grease.

Thanks Markus

Lately I have been using lubromoly light automotive assembly grease for the metal gears on most of my older locomotives. Oil just does not stay on the gears and this is the lightest white grease available. I plan to use this grease on the helical gears and intermediate drive shafts. I plan to use some synthetic oil for the gears and sleeve bearings in the drive assemblies. Thanks for your help.

Best regards
Al

Hi Al,

I am very careful with technical greases of all kinds. I generally suspect them to contain acids or other additives which could harm the paint. Maybe I'm to careful, but I would only use products which I know since decades and where I'm sure that they don't have any unexpected characteristics even in long-terms.

Regards

Markus
