Hello All:

I am in the process of setting up my home computer for digital operation using Rocrail, a couple of web cameras for hidden yard monitoring, as well as incorporating... Dale Schultz's "Remote Sign". If you are reading this, Dale, thanks for a great program, I will be sending you a cheque/money order this weekend to be able to snag the registration key, and as well, I will contact you off list via your email to confirm this.

However, one thing I would like to do is to set my system using the Remote Sign program so that the times change automatically as in prototypical operation mode, and this will require an actual time table, incorporating my Station within a semi-fictitious DB schedule.

In order to do this I am looking for a bit of help. Help in the form of the old Abfahrt and Einfahrt signs that were to be found in the stations or more usually on the platform set out before the digital age of platform signs etc. I was wondering if anyone would know where I could find a picture of them, either real or graphical in nature? Any help in this regards would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely
James B.

Hi James

If I am right in what you're describing then maybe an old Faller platform kit may give you the graphics/stickers for what you need.

Maybe someone has a set of decals from such a set that could be scanned etc for you.

Hello Mike:

Thanks for the reply.Smile

Correct... However, I don't need the decals, as the graphic will be inserted into an image that will become part of my Rocrail computer HUD display.

I'm hoping to put together a display (probably using 2 monitors). The main monitor will display Rocrail as well as my web cams showing my shadow yards. While I would like to run a second monitor displaying "Remote Sign" as well as a graphic showing "Arrival/Departure" times and train consists as can be found in stations or the platforms in most European Bahnhofs.

I was able to find a couple of photo sites that did have pictures of two of the signs (Arrival and Departure), and I am currently working on creating my own schedule, however, at this point, I'm only guessing

I'll post a graphical display of what I'm talking about to clarify BigGrin .

Thanks again

Regards
James B.

Mike:

Here is a graphical explanation of what I want to do.

Just a couple of things, though. The track plan in the first monitor shows an AnyRail schematic of my layout. This will be replaced with an actual RocRrail schematic.

In the second monitor, I have included the current pictures that I was able to find on the net so far. It is the two pictures on the right (one in white, the other in yellow), that I am trying to obtain so that I can find out what is actually included on these posters.

These will be replace with either the proper Arrival and Departure signs, or the copies that I am currently creating. The consist that is in the picture (bottom) is a consist of freight trains, which will also be replace with the proper Passenger trains that currently are running.

Hope this helps anybody viewing this post.BigGrin

Looks very complicated, but very interesting. I hope you achieve it, I look forward to seeing the outcome.

Hi James,

Is this what you are looking for?

Tidtabell

Yellow were for departures and white for arrivals. I googled pictures for "Aushangfahrplan" and got lots of hits for bus and tram timetables. I only found one for arrivals and it is pretty old as you can see:

Ankomster Mannheim Hbf

Another one for departures, but this time a Swiss one:

SBB tidtabell

An alternative could be to look at the line timetables. Here is a link to German Kursbuchstreckennummer 140 (Köbenhavn H -) Puttgarden - Lübeck - (Hamburg Hbf) and perhaps even more useful, had it been in English, the explanation of symbols in the timetables: Link.

I put these links here since many of the symbols are also shown on the yellow timetables in stations.

Sir:

Yes, yes, and yes. Thank you so much. ThumpUp

I remember these from my European rail journeys and I just wanted to add a little realism to the layout. Once I have the secondary monitor hooked up, most of the rest will be quite simple. The Cameras will come up over top of the Rocrail server, and can be resized to fit in the message / error part of the Rocrail program (I've already confirmed this.

As stated, the overall schematic of the layout viewable on Monitor #1 will be the embedded diagram that comes with the Rocrail program. Monitor #2 will display the "Remote Sign" clapper board program and I should be able to resize that window. The rest of the graphics (these signs as well as the train consists ) should be resizeable as well, and will fit in quite nicely with the overall effect. Once everything is in place, I'll just add the sound (ambient city sounds or typical rail shunting noises) and viola! A working depot, if only on the 1:87 scale. (Right now I'm thinking that I really do have too much time on my hands these days, but hey, if someone can construct a New York "Central Station" mock up in their basement as well as having the ability to control his layout from the inside of a full scale American F7 Diesel locomotive (which is so cool BTW), then I don't feel so bad building my layout ala Star Trek.

Again....Thank you so very much, this just made my day. I love this forum and the people who are part of it.

Sincerely
James B.
