Hi all, One of Faller 1960's icons is Café & Petrol station 214 / 215 ("Auto-Rast"). The 215 version includes a special flat motor that could rotate a company symbol (Mercedes, Shell, VW....) on the roof of the gas station. Version 214 is without motor. This super lovely Gas Station appeared first on the 1961 Nürnberg toy fair (26/02 - 3/3/1961). And it was introduced as a novelty in the Faller catalogue 1961/62, page 17. The Gas Station was in the Faller program up to 1979. For the FALLER AMS the Auto Rast has item number 4914 and came in different colors (red fences and railings and a blue roof). Last week I purchased 3 of these Auto Rast from different Dutch en German sellers (and this will be more). Yesterday I received the 1st, it misses the railing on the stairs but with original box and a good motor and paid only € 9.00 for it !!!! I'm going to restore them all. The Auto Rast will do great on my nostalgia 1950/60 Marklin layout (and I also want to build a Faller AMS layout with my sons in the near future). Here are some first pictures.... |

Hi Marco, I remember seeing these in the shops in the 1970s. There used to be a model train shop on our main street that sold Lima trains and Faller accessories. The owner had built a display layout in his shop window, and I think he had one of these petrol stations on it. These old Faller buildings were great fun, and possibly the reason why 99% of the buildings on my current layout are Faller! To be honest, I don't understand why you need so many of these, but it's nice to see these old kits highlighted on the forum. Thanks for sharing it with us! |

Many people cherish this cafe gas station, both modelrailway enthusiasts as FALLER AMS Fans. And many enthusiasts before me, have completly renovated this icon. My two 11 years old sons find this 1960s gas station also great. And I like it that I can pass on a 35 year old Faller icon to them. And later they can pass it on to their children. |

I bought several because the cheap one's (< € 10) are often severely damaged and with a lot of missing parts. I use 4 or 5, to build 2 or 3 good ones, and maybe one in mint condition. I've done this before with station Schönblick. That is what I like to do. I even consider re-printing the original stickers. On German forums I have seen lots of Faller fans that cut ans strip houses completely apart, doing glue stain removal and rebuilding it completely. It can be done. |

Hi Mike, I'm a bit late, but thanks !! I made some progress pictures of my two B-215 with motor and a B-214 without motor. This special motor is extremely flat, about 1cm, so it is well hidden in the roof. I find the mood of the lighting very sweet. I have made a special video for the forum, with the forum logo rotating. Maybe I also post it on the German forum, seems like a good joke, because they are so easily upset about me placing links and so on. |

Well, nobody seems to like my yesterdays forum advertising film (no comments at all). On the basis of the transfers the German name of the gas station is "Rundblick" , which means round view or panoramic view. I never encountered this name in all the documentation I have seen of this Faller Item. |

Hi Marco. Just saw your video. Excellent advertising for the Forum! Don't worry if sometimes people are a bit slow to see your posts. It happens to all of us. Sometimes there are so many new posts at the same time that yours may get swallowed up. What I do if this happens is that I wait 24 hours and then add another post to the thread, to "wake it up" again. Sometimes it also pays to change the original name of the thread, maybe add "- new video", or words to that effect, to let others know there's something new to see. Sometimes I skip looking at posts because it's very tiresome to have to wait for a minute or two for the photos to load, only to find that all that's new is a reply saying "thanks", or a comment like "Very nice". BTW, I'm very impressed with the small size of those Faller motors, especially given the time they were made! |

Hi Z, That is a very good deal, I would buy that right away if I were you !! On Ebay, the B-215 are sold for € 40 to € 60.. On 2 october € 61,00 (not me !!), see screen print.... Personally I find that a lot off money, but still reasonable for this lovely special Cafe-Petrolstation. I have actually bought a 4th one (a special one) also for much $$$, in the weekend I post some pictures of it. Marco |
