 Lately my attention was caught by the beautiful Waggons of LS Models. It produces several Passenger Coaches from Eastern Europe which Märklin does not have. However, most of them are labelled DC. My question, are these coaches compatible with the Märklin System (AC) or there is a need to change the wheels?

Hello They will run on Märklin track, but if you have small problems on switches, etc. you will need to adjust teh whelle spacing to 13.8 mm (measured between the inside of the flanges) LS model coaches usually come with two sets of wheels: a "normal" one with higher flanges and a "fine-scale" version with very thin flanges. For Märklin track , always use the biggest flanges. Hope this helps Cheers |

LS Models coaches are among the nicest models produced today. The product range is varied. As far as operating them on Maerklin, if you are running K- or C- track, you should not have any problems. Due to the fact that LSM coaches are manufactured in exact scale, there may be related problems on the tightest radii (R1) as well as on M-Tracks. You must also test to ensure that these full length coaches can be used with Maerklin catenary masts (if present), as the coaches may brush against the masts in curved sections. As far as wheelsets, all of my LS Models, ACME and RailTop coaches came with one set of wheels. I have not seen the "fine scale" flanges. It is possible that some other models do come with a second set. Many dealers in Europe will offer AC wheelset exchange. You can always ask your dealer when you place the order. If you are modelling Eastern European, there are other manufacturers making models from those countries, including ACME www.acmetreni.it of similar quality to LSM. I greatly appreciate your detailed answer to my inquiry. The limitations on Märklin productions on Eastern European Railways and
rumours that the items are partly made outside Europe force me to look for alternatives.
