Märklin has limited production of SNCF (French Railways) Coaches.
On the other hand, several vintage Jouef waggons are available in
Shops.

I would like to ask if I could use the Joeuf DC Waggons on my
Märklin C Gleis? If not, what is the solution to this problem.

Thanks

I use some old Jouef wagons on my C track layout with no issues. The only problem might be too little weight in some of the smaller wagons. They are a bit too light and jump off the track if you bump the layout! I intend to add some weight so that they sit a bit better on the track.

...for french railways (sncf) lovers, allow me to recommand a young manufacturer : REE. (few years old)
Serious manufacturer doing really really really nice things !
Much more serious than LS models.(far more serious)
For the first time on the industrial/semi industrial MRR french market : items are very well designed (good design).
Very accurate, good paint, thin details and nice mounting.
Only one restriction for people who like to roll : thanks to their good design those items roll very well but on some models external details are so thin that you have to handle them with a lot of care. Which is only because of the thiness of certain details, despite the plastic and paint are good quality.
One of their last product is a ERA 4 luggage wagon with tail red lights. (the tail red light is factory mounted with a capacitor). Just test it, this will give you an idea of what this manufacturer can do....
(also some ERA II or ERA III small tank cars : so cute).
Unfortunately, this manufacturer actually aims the two rails market. Its OK on the Marklin C track, but we haven't checked all turnouts yet.
For digital automation, wheels are isolated. So 3railers have to apply resistive/conductive paint. However they plan to offer an alternative for 3 railers....

Ray,

You have pointed correctly regarding the weight of some Jouef waggons.
I would try your recommendation and put some metals inside to add weight.

Thanks!BigGrin

I would like to take this opportunity and ask regarding the old Lima and Roco Waggons.
In one forum, it was pointed out that some problems were encountered (Short circuit)
when these coaches were run on Märklin.

Is this an isolated case or something to reckon with?

I have an era 5 boxcar from Jouef, the one with "Wir fahren fur Volkswagen" logo.
I had issues with it and it is not as detailed as the Marklin.
It did not like S-curves. I think that it can be adjusted to make it work. I did not think about adding weight so I will try it.
Just don't be surprised if you expect to place and play with no issues.

Hi Hirayama,

I run a Marklin layout, and am fond of the Jouef wagons from the past. I happily use a few Jouef wagons with my trains. I also use Hornby Acho, as some of their wagons and coaches are unique.

I usually change the couplings and the wheels, as they run better with the Marklin, but they can be run OK without alteration.

In this photo, the first wagons is Lima ( a hobby product with NEM couplers) and the next two wagons are Jouef.

If you wish more details on changing wheels and couplers, please let me know.

Hi Hirayama,

Older Lima, Roco, and Joef wagons with metal wheels may sometimes cause a short on Marklin C track turnouts, where the inside of the wheel momentarily touches the centre puko (positive live stud). This is because of the different wheel standards. I usually replace the wheels with Marklin, or even Fleischmann AC wheels 6560 or 6561 (different axle length).

However, I even have standard Marklin wagons causing a similar momentary short, so I don't see it as a huge problem. In these cases, I blame the turnout, and very gently file away a few nano-mm off the side of the offending puko.

regards
Kimball
