Regards Peter from Adelaide First I use a dust pan brush to sweep off dust and dust.. I use the PECO track cleaning blocks - usually available at Australian hobby stores - to remove the rust. Then I use a lint free cloth and lighter fluid to clean the track rails.. Its nasty but m-track can take it. Then I fidn that if you run the trains regularly the tracks stay pretty clean.. |

Hi Peter,
This is how I cleaned my M-tracks:
1. Remove rust spot using e.g. the peco track cleaning block (no sand paper) 2. Hot water and dish soap. Use a good brush and clean both sides of track 3. Flush with clean water and immediate dry using compressed air 4. WD-40 on a rag and give the whole track a good coating (also underneath epically on the centre rail) 5. Use some alcohol cleaning solution and wipe the top of the rail clean
For turnouts and other track containing electrical parts I use a combination of above together with an electrical cleaner spray (CRC contact 2000 – safe on plastic and rubber).
They will look very shiny and complete new!
I used to do 20-30 track each evening after having done the dishes for my wife!

Regards Peter from Adelaide Peter, I'mnot sure there is a best way. I have cleaned over 1000 sections of M-track ranging fron new to very old and dirty. The method is: Clean with soft " Pink Pearl " eraser Remove residue with alcohol and soft cloth Polish with Fritz metal polish and clean again with alcohol and wipe dry Once the track is clean, rail trafic should keep them clean and little re-cleaning will be needed, Tex
