Trying to establish what tyres to keep in stock for my locos - some are easy to find: the BR23 39230 uses 7153 (same as the old BR24 3003 methinks?); the ML2200 39302 uses 7154 (same as the 3021 V200?).
But when I look up the tyres needed for 39022 BR18.3 it is listed as 656 520??; and for the V90 37906 it is listed as E220 510??...strange looking numbers??
Is there a comprehensive list of tyre sizes needed for "old" and "new" locos?
Joe

Looking the numbers up at Märklin's Online shop reveals that E220510 is the same as 7154. For the 39020, 39021 and 39022 the electronic spare part listening all state E656520, which is a package containing 20 tyres and it is available at the Online shop at € 15:-. However given that the shipping costs are € 49:95 to South Africa I'd try to order them from elsewhere or wait until I have a sufficiently long list of spare parts (or other items) that would justify the shipping costs.

NB I'm using the German Language version of the Online shop.

PS I find the Online shop's shipping costs a bit steep even to Sweden at € 19:95 and yet both Germany and Sweden are in the EU, which means less paper work, since no customs declaration is required.

Hi Joe

I was recently at Sinji Trading (http://www.modelrailways.co.za/ Official SA Marklin importers) getting some tyres and Michael mentioned there are only three tyre sizes(?) small, medium and large which cover all the Marklin HO possibilities(?). They had stock of all three (I am not sure about part numbers etc.).

Thanks
Angus

In earlier Märklin catalogs there have been four types of tyres listed: 7151, 7152, 7153 and 7154

7153 is for instance used on 37183, which is a BR 18.4. On the other hand the BR 18.4 had smaller wheels than the 18.3 and for that reason Märklin may have chosen to create a fifth size of tyres and they are the E656520.

Taking a slightly different angle on this topic it could be noted that Märklin for several years have not included a table of spare parts for locos and the tyres are not listed either in the catalog.

Thanx everyone - aren't those shipping prices quite absurd!!...almost 50 Euro?!

Right, but IIRC 7151 is used by BR 628 only (presumably smaller than 7154). In the '70s there were only three (7152 (large) through 7154 (small)).

Larger tyres came with recent steamers, e.g. 05 003 (#225024) or BR 18.3.

Tom
