Hi,

Foreword: Last December died a good friend of mine in the age of only 46. We often discussed Märklins wasted opportunity, and how we could realize them. One idea were Danish Maxi-cars. Marklin made about eight colours of box-car, but only of German and Swiss prototypes. So I decided to design the cars we discussed posthumously. I used "VIVIL" and "MAXI" imprinted cars which are the two cheaper versions today.

Denmark only has three breweries which owned more than two or three cars: CARLSBERG, TUBORG and ALBANI. I know that there were also some STJERNEN-cars, but they are very hard to draw. So, I only did the "big three".
Fortunately www.jernbane.dk has a great archive of pictures of old Danish cars, so that I was able to choose cars, which are similar to the Maxi-shape.

First the CARLSBERG. Every Märklin-Collector knows the 4636 or the 4530, which were the first Danish goods-cars at all.

The prototype:

The TUBORG.

I have still no idea how to make the baldachin. So the car is missing it. But Märklin-cars also never had one.

The ALBANI. At this cars I also added a platform from a passenger-car. The axle of the end with platform is mounted at an another position than at the standard-cars. This looks better, but the car doesn't like the 600mm radius very much.

Hi Per,

The cars are resprayed with REVELL primer and sealed with "MR HOBBY TOP-COAT". The door handles which often crack when dismantling are still available from Märklin. Unfortunately the larger grips are not available any more, otherwise I would also have replaced them with black ones.
The painting are self-designed and printed decals. I use a common CANON-printer and Canon-Original-ink with decal-foil for inkjet-printers.

Hi,

Three cars do not make a good train, so here comes No. 4. A car in the colours of PREMIER IS. The PREMIER IS company produced ice for fish-trawlers in the days of that car. Consumable ice-cream was added later to the assortment and is still known all over Denmark. But today they use another logo.
Jernbane.dk offers many ideas for nice cars, but in most cases the pictures are not reproducible. For the PREMIER car I found an auction of an old napkin on qxl.dk. ( http://www.qxl.dk/pris/s...remier-is/v/an689338390/ ) The picture gave a good impression of the real colours and the right shape of the letters.

Ignoring the brakemans-cab I have choosen this car: http://www.jernbanen.dk/...Aar=1893&VognID=1198 for the prototype. For me it's the nicest car.
Like the other cars it is based on a VIVIL oder MÄRKLIN MAXI-imprinted car, just because these are the cheapest versions.

The loco will take some more time.
