I realize that ESU manufactured the first Central Station but did they also manufactur the CS-2?

Several of the members in my So Cal ETE group have the Ecos control system and highly recommend it over the CS-2.

I just read about the Viessmann "Commander" and would like anybody's suggestions / comments.

I have read the information about all three systems and noticed that the Moble Stations can plug into the Ecos unit but Viessmann doesn't state that fact, unless I missed something.

Thanks.

Hi,

no ESU have not been involved in the CS2.

Mobile Station 1 can be plugged into an ECoS, and Mobile Stations 1 & 2 plugs into a CS2. For the Viessmann Commander I have no idea, haven't done any research on it.

In the case CS2 vs. ECoS I will say nothing more than it depends... If you run mainly Märklin, then CS2 might be the "better" one. If you run most DCC items - then the ECoS might be the "better" choice... It's a subjective thing, most people like whichever one they have. Currently I have "only" a CS2 and like that one. But (for several reasons) there will be an ECoS (2) available as a secondary unit also by me in some time.
Fredrik.

CS2 stand-alone features: update sounds and firmware of new Märklin mLD and mSD decoders, use MS2 as controllers. Maybe more in the future.

IMHO my ole CS1 reloaded feels so much faster and much user-friendly with simple tasks such as loco selection. This applies to all locos.
It has a UI for function mapping of ESU DCC decoders, including the new V4 decoders. With CS1R you click check boxes, with CS2 you read manuals and program CVs.

You don't know what you've got till it's gone. I played with both. Whenever I play with a CS2 I miss several features.

Back to topic "Viessmann Commander": They once wrote that VC might support mfx in the feature. But AFAIK it does not yet - and not likely to do in the near future. So if you have mfx decoders, the VC won't give you better performance or more functions than a CU 6021.

Robert,

I'm not suggesting you run with the pack, if the Viessmann "Commander" really interests you, what the heck.

If you look at this forum though what do you see, M6021, IB, CS1 and CS2, ECoS. You are going to have questions and I think you will only find help on the Viessmann "Commander" forum in German.

If the CS2 really grabs you and you want more trains look at one of the digital sets that come with a CS2, can be good value.

If you want a CS right away there is 20% sale going on right now that will give you a very good price on an ECoS or an CS2.
