Can anyone help me ID this locomotive? I bought it at a local hobby shop, with no box. They had no info about it. I'm wondering when it was made, what model it is (I think maybe BR 140 DB), and if it's possible to convert it to digital (I doubt it). It works great but I would like to someday run it on my layout. Thanks! dpetersen attached the following image(s): |

Dave, There is no such thing as I doubt it, everything is possible and this loco is not excluded from it. First of all, the loco itself should have and has a number on both sides and this will reveal the type of loco it is. It is a Marklin E 41024 (3037) first edition loco with raised numbershield. to improve or convert this loco several options are available. My suggestion would be a 5 pole conversion kit 60943, 2 bulb holders, 2 led's, 2 resistors, 2 new prototypical pantographs (Sommerfeldt), an ESU lokdecoder or sound decoder, 1 ESU 21 pin adapter plate or an 8 pin adapter socket. total cost about US$ 120.00 and with a sound decoder add another US$ 90-100. Hi John, Glad to hear that it should be possible to convert it. I'm going to pick up the 60943 kit next week, and will check into the other parts you mentioned.
Thanks! |
