Hi Ian
well it looks like you are starting
great guess what
we have had SNOW and Hail here in the South
in the Middle of Jan so much for Global warming
Marklin have really sharpened their Prices for this new range
but also some of the sets you need to look closely as they have changed
like the mega had dropped the electric/digital points and reduced the
track overall size to get the total price down to 1499.00 euro
So they are aware of The euro Problems and making their pricing keen
which is good for us all more trains for less money
Happy shunting

Hi Bryan,

You guy's sure like to get it all down your way. Smile

Looking thro the new price lists, I'm tempted by a couple of them, I've not really bought many Loco's brand new, most of my purchases are from e-bay, maybe order 2 or 3 this year.

Interest in the UK club is still growing, so will see how that works out over the coming summer months.

You all take care.

Ian.

GlenM's views seem to be sensible and practical, its been for some years for me a solo operation, bar a brother down south who is hibernating with his collection.

I am aware of a few Euro nuts in the area as you bump into them at exhibitions. Last near contact I had was a long time back and was the late Vic Greenwood in Nelson..Not sure of even the age range these days as I head for 50 soon....

I'd be fascinated with any really old stuff as well..still got my fathers set pre war...

The good thing about most hobbies (not all) and it includes Marklin, is that it transcends age, and therefore you can have a great mix of people with varied ages, all talking about their passion for the same thing.

Great

Hi John, not wanting to be picky but sadly, that 180º track crossing piece does not exist in Marklin HO.

How about the 90º crossing rotated to fit?

Back to the drawing board?

On previous occasions, even Gaugemaster haven't even bothered to bring Marklin along to the show Confused How can they possibly hope to sell the product if they adopt this attitude. At least if they brought some kit along and matched Lokshop prices, I am sure that they would plenty of buyers. Alan

Hi Ian
Been reading through messages and see you guys are underway great
Now a thought, why dont you setup a Facebook page for the club
which will be of no cost and everyone interested does the same and
you linkup by accepting each other as friends just like we do on this net
but it is all to do with your club.
Then everyone could share pictures of their layouts etc but above all chat
back and forth, and once you are a friend you can also load on a video chat programme
and talk live to each other and this could help bridge the distant problem
and give a sense of belonging to a club
Here in nz societys have to register, but its no real great hastle and is actually
a good safety keeper for those involved and generally stops excesses and
we have to file a annual simple statement of affairs and the annual finance statement
which in most cases is a simple one page spreadsheet showing fees and monies in and
statement of costs and balances held , and generally is the statement given to members at annual agm
well have a great time at your met and the person with the grouping idea of england wales scotland
is not far from our auckland, wgtn and chch clubs
As it so happened last friday night we had 15 a meeting in chch, and also they had 22 at the meeting in wgtn
the same night and we are looking at doing a link up via facebook
I was video talking with my brother in N island tonight and he logged out to log intovideo talk with someone in London so we could even linkup with you guys in scotland or where ever.
all the best happy easter

John,

May I suggest you check out www.ete.org and click on "Module SIG" as they give the specifications that are used here in the USA.
Most chapters use "K" track for the modules so that when we get together, everything lines up, but the Chicago chapter uses "C" track.

Hi Ian
so you don't know about Facebook
Just google "facebook" and you can create your own page
add messages about what you are up to
post photos, which all others world wide can see
I see that Marklin user net I could sign in under my facebook page as well
as the net normal so our controller knows about it
its very like Ian what you have been doing with your layouts on this net
except anyone in the world can see it and can chat to you and video link to you
really cool thats why i suggested it to you for your club
You can choose to only show you Facebook page to "friends only"
so you don't get those offers of marriage or worse from complete strangers
haha BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin
