Hi guys, without thinking this completely through was able to get what I feel was a deal that I just couldn't pass up on a Marklin Maxi engine. It's going to take me about a week to get it and the person that I bought it from is not a train person so he doesn't have the answer to this question.

I have a Digitrax system and mainly collect Accucraft & LGB. This will be my first Marklin. What are the power requirements for this engine? See the link below for a video link to a similar engine. I can't seem to find any conclusive information online. I believe that this has sound but I'm not sure if it will work (trigger) with a Digitrax DCC system. My setup consists or mainly DCC loops but I do have a DC only line. Also from the video below, it looks like it has smoke.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It will use one of AC, DC or Marklin digital as shipped with smoke but not sound. If it is not as it left the factory then a check inside the base will show the decoder. If is the original Marklin decoder then AC or Marklin digital. If a simple board with diodes then DC. When you replace the cover check the pickups are correctly positioned. Don't be surprised if the smoke unit is burnt out as they are not really rated for continuous digital volts. Best thing is start by asking the vendor if you can. reply if you are still stuck.
