Can someone please point me in the direction of an M track library for Traincad? I have the standard one loaded but there are lots of missing tracks. I am rubbish at programming so I don't get how to edit the library to make the others. Has someone got a complete M track library...Please Unsure

Dave,

All I have is this : AutoCad normalisation v1

Careful, cause the geometry in that file is a bit dodgy ^^ ...

Hope this helps,

Dave,

I don't know whether its compatible as I've never used TrainCad, but you can try :

- using the exchange format .dxf
- sending email to the author : email [a] traincad (dot) com

Not much info appears on this site ... but it looks like you can use a simple text editor to add tracks, using their basic geometry ... no programming needed if you keep the format given.

Also, wouldn't be surprised if you could find other track templates on the internet ... see here too : https://www.marklin-users.net/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1046

Lemme know plz,

I just gotta be the dumbest guy on this forum...I still dont get it. The track files traincad uses are .trk files. The instructions to add tracks say make a .txt file. The syntax of the command lines also confuses me...Blushing

No worries, no panic ... try this (assuming you're on Windows OS):

Right click on a .trk file, from the roll-out context menu choose "Open with", then choose the Windows "Notepad" application ...
Then, once opened in Notepad, modify the geometry info of the tracks, or add new track info, using lengths and radius (as stated in thread on previous M-user.net post) ... etc.

Or, do a copy/paste of the track files as they appear on the TrainCad site into a notepad .txt file, do your modifications ... then save and just change the extension from .txt to .trk ... should then appear in your software menu options.

Yep, it requires a bit of elbow grease. If you're lazy, like me ;), you may wanna try some proprietary software, like Wintrack, or what I use : Raily 4.0

Whatever you do, don't give up ^^ ThumpUp
