Hi group,

I'm trying to upgrade a loco (steamer 3310) from a 6090 to a lokpilotV4 (in DCC mode).

I've got spare parts for two-pins bulb holders; Fine!

Now the problem is with the smoke generator. The fact is the return signal (ground) of the smoke generator use the loco chassis.

In the LPV4 manual, it is stated that you can:
-either use the common ground (chassis) with front & rear bulbs, and also use the same common ground for AUX1/AUX2, i.e. without using the blue wire. But in that case, you suffer from light flickering (which I'd like to avoid, and that's the reason why I've got 2-pins bulb holders)
-or use the blue wire as a general return signal for front and rear bulbs, and AUX1/AUX2. In that case, the smoke generator (AUX1) must be insulated from the chassis (yes, but how?Crying )

My question :
Is it possible to wire the return signal for F&R bulbs with the blue one, and for the AUX1 -smoke generator- with the chassis (i.e. the black one) ?
The wiring schema will be :
-front bulb: white & blue;
-rear bulb : yellow & blue;
-smoke generator: green and "chassis"

Sorry is that seems obvious for some of you, but it's not very clear in my mind.Confused

The smoke generator I plan to use is a Seuthe 11.

Your inputs will be greatly appreciated, as usual.

Cheers
fabrice

Fabrice,

That's the way to do it but than it depends on the smoke generator
If you have a lokprogrammer there are a few boxes you have to tick and if you have an ECoS the voltage has to be right.

Hi,

Thank you John ThumpUp . I'm a bit more confident as I won't fry the decoder.

I've also read in the doc I need to adjust some CV about the smoke generator. Unhappily I don't have lokprogrammer neither an Ecos, but I should succeed with my CS2 (even if less comfortable).

I'll post the results in this thread (and maybe questions regarding CV adjustment if needed).

Cheers
Fabrice

Hi!
It's OK to use the chassis for the ground (correct smoke generator would be Seuthe No. 10 then).
Regards
Tom

If you want to seperate the Smoke Generator from light and chassis try
searching on google for the Marklin ET Part No 343590 which i might
think will help you with your problem.

If you plan on switching the Smoke Generator with F1 for example you
should use Seuthe nr 10 (Marklin 7226) or Seuthe nr 20 (Marklin 72270)
instead.

With the Part 343950 in place this would make it possible for to
set it up for the follow :

F0 = Turn Light ON/OFF
F1 = Turn Smoke Generator ON/OFF

If you would like to have Light in The Cabine room of the train take
a look at the Marklin Part No 519007 LIGHTING BOARD.

Then a new function could be :

F2 = Cabine Light ON/OFF
CS3+ 60216 ( SW:2.5.2 ) - MASTER / CS2 60215 ( SW:4.3.0 ) - SLAVE
MS2 60653/57 ( SW:4.13 ) / MS1 60652 ( SW:1.8AP ) / 60883 S88 LINK ( SW:1.1 )
MDT 3 (SW 3.6.0) - HW: 60970 / 60971 / 60801
ESU LOKPROGRAMMER ( SW 5.2.6 ) / ESU HW: 53451 / 53900 / 53901
