In the spirit of the "nuckle head" awards, I managed to destroy the smoke generator on one of the Finance Director's MAXI locos. [:(][:(] (needless to say - I am sleeping in the dog box tonight [B)])

I have had the loco apart (there is no way this will be warranty anyway!) and the original unit is 35mm high and 9mm external diameter. I was hoping to replace it with a seuthe unit, but I can't find their website. Lokshop recommends a seu300 for Maxi units. Any recommendations?confusedconfusedconfusedconfusedconfusedconfused

Also - I am keen to make both these units digital. Any decoder recommendations - only motorola please as I plan to get a 6021 eventually (the IB is for the HO layout)..[^]

Thanks
Adrian

I don't beleive that Seuthe has a web address. You may have to order your part thru a dealer or you can write them at:
Seuthe-Schley GmbH
Frühlingstr. 15

Adrian:

According to the product list in a Seuth generator I just bought, it looks like a Seuthe #7 is what you want. 11-16 Volt, 10mm at the top, 9mm at mid point, 38mm high. If you send me your e-mail address, I'll scan this sheet and send it to you.

Made it easier for you. I put it on my web site. Go to http://www.sem-co.com/~rschaffr/trains/seuthe.jpg

Ira, thanks for the address - strange that they don't even have a modest web presence..

Thanks Ron, that is the best Seuthe information I have seen to date. Unfortunately, the part is 9mm at the top and has no lip.. It is a very tight fit into the smoke stack and it enters from the bottom of the stack.. It is from a 54413 set (see picture below) - not shown in the new online Marklin parts site.. [:(] The other Maxis seem to use the same part, a 662680 - but I can't be sure..confusedconfused

Just at thought...the stack itself looks tapered. Could you possibly feed the Seuthe one down from the top?

Nup - It's external appearance is deceptive.. It has an internal lip so that the smoke generator does not push through the top looks like it is about 8mm.. (it is 5am down here are the vernier calipers seem miles away - I have just used a ruler)

Mind you - there does not seem to be anything to stop me drilling a bigger hole..

Well, before you drill it out, you should try to locate the correct part.

Addded: Back to basics...how did you break it? Maybe it can be fixed?

Let's just say that there is nothing in the middle of the smoke unit - some fibreglass pieces fell out along with a metal tube..
