Hello, Iàm glad I found this forum hoping to find some gentle help. Iàm new to the forum, and also to Marklin trains. Last year I bought in France a small Kit of Marklin train which included an IR remote control (which not even appear in the current catalog). Back in Mexico, my son was so happy with the train that last summer my sister bought him from a trip to Germany a used high speed Locomotive, which worked fine with the IR Control but now the rails were too small for it, so I decided to enlarge it by buying new rails, cars, and a new Locomotive directly from the online shop in Germany... Now my problem is that the new Locomotive, which has a current catalog number 30050 resembles Forrest Gump because only runs at top speed without stopping and doesn`t respond to the IR Remote Control when we try to stop it, slow the speed, activate the reverse mode or anything else. The troubleshooting page of Marklin is in German and I don`t know a word Scared , so I had no idea what to do until I found a light of hope in this forum ThumpUp. Any help will be welcomed and a friend from backyard will be very, very gratefulBigGrin . Regards to all of you: Chatiuxx

Hi!
Have you tried changing the address of the loco as described in the IR controller manual?
IIRC you have to press a button on the controller while you apply power. Try it several times if you don't succeed at first.

Loco probably starts running immediately because it was still running when they took it off the test track. This could be a problem when you try to change the address, so try it a few times.
Regards
Tom

I think that those are the symptoms of an analog loco running on a digital layout.
You might want to open the loco and see what it has inside (show us a photo here, please).
Depending on the inside, it might have a decoder strapped to analog mode.
As you state that the loco was bought USED, there is really no way of telling what it has inside. It might even have an old-fashioned electromagnetic reversing relay!
Best regards

Where does he state that? The used loco works fine, the "brand new" loco #30050 does not work correctly.

Roger,
how do you set an mfx decoder to "analog"? I'm not sure if that can be done - and it shouldn't be the default setting of a "brand new" locomotive.

Tom
