Hello I am new to this site but not to Marklin HO, I have a BB22200 SNCF Ref. 83320 which has a Delta electronic unit.
When I run it on conventional operation with the DELTA electronic off completely (I did not try on DELTA or DIGITAL) the locomotive is running SLOW. It runs great but slow like it's lacking voltage, all my other Marklin locomotives are running just fine and fast.
What could be the problem? This engine is like new and was hardly ever use. I did run it a good hour (with breaks) in either directions and it does not improve much.
If someone has an idea of what the problem could be, that would be great!
Thanks!!!!!

with other words running it analog.

Does the loco reverse, does the lights come on, what type of transformer do you use.

Can you try to run it on digital or delta

Yes analog. I use an older transfo. but with any other Marklin from an SK800 to a Digital Big Boy there is no issue. I had another 83320 which was working just fine in the same conditions. The loco does reverse, lights are working.
I do not have a Delta or Digital transformer just yet.
Thanks John.

Marklin locos sometimes suffer from an accumulation of old oil mixed with carbon deposits from the brushes. This sets into a paste which slows the loco down, and sometimes even prevents the motor from turning.

The only solution is to take the motor apart and clean the parts thoroughly with something like contact cleaner or other electrical cleaning solvent. Make sure the wheels rotate freely before putting the motor back together. If they don't you also need to clean the gears and axles. When you put everything back together (not forgetting to insert the brushes) it should run freely and fast. Lubricate the loco as per Marklin's recommendations, with no more than one drop of oil on the motor bearing ends, and a drop on each wheel axle.

If this is not the problem you might have a broken wire on the motor windings. This will need a replacement armature (rotor) to fix the problem.

Welcome to the forum, Marklinsncf.

Follow the suggestions given by RayPayas, as also for me the problem with your locomotive is the lack of lubrication.

Cheers

Renato

I agree with Ray : look at your brushes, try some new brushes, if not working clean the motor inside,.....or do all at the same time (brushes changing + motor cleaning).

Hello again, thanks for all the welcome and recommendations for that locomotive.
I will check what you guys told me, one thing though, I have an extensive collection of Marklin locomotives and always do lubricate them as recommended by Marklin. So, lubrication is not the issue.
This engine used to work great, then it sat in a display for several years.... and now it is slow...
Will let you know what I find.
Meanwhile, any other idea is welcome!
Best
Francois
