Does anyone have information on a product listed in the marklin Complete Program 2003 /2004E catalog on page 3129 "new item 60512 Model Railroad Software"Controlling Trains and Accessories"
I called marklin US and then said they were not permitted by marklin HQ in Germany to market this software.
Thanks if anyone knows the "poop" on this issue.

It's a German version only - can't market it because no english version is/was available. |

However, the German language only 60521 Track Planning Software is being sold in the US.

Hi all:
Marklin has for some time made a 60-day demo version of the 60512 program available on the Internet. I don't know if it's still there but if you have DSL access go for it. Also, the demo version will be available on the Marklin catalog CD-ROM. The programs capabilities will be covered in a series of articles in Marklin Magazin International and you can also find a special Insider software forum. |

Some months ago, I tried out this software for the entire trial.. I can't believe that I would have persisted with a German Language version - in fact I felt sure there was a menu setting that switched on English menus.. Unfortunately, once you have tried - you can never try again as it locks something on your PC.. I ended up with WinDigiPet - the only real complaint is that it has not kept up with the Marklin product range eg minimal support for the new signals - three aspects only... |

Märklin Software 60512 now has its own support forum: http://www.abbinkserver/forum/This is also the official support forum for this software from a Märklin point of view. The software is almost the same as WinDigital. Jan

the ".de" was missing in your original posting. Never mind, we agree. Now that my impertinent question has been neither denied nor confirmed, let me just say in general that, if any of you happens to meet Mr Abbink , please tell him that his efforts to develop Mac OS X control software are greatly appreciated. In the past, I have sent several messages to the company to encourage them to continue their efforts, and I realise that the market won't be profitable, but the Mac community will be very, very greatful. |

Thanks, I know, I've been following the progress. A few years ago, I became very concerned after the announcement for MacDigital was removed from their website, but things have changed again in a very positive way. |

Hello, Does anyone out there recommend using Marklin's 60512 train control software? I saw two articles n the Marklin International magazine, 5/2004, but do not see much mention of it on this site. Currently I use IB and marklin 6021 to control my trains, and turnouts. Thank you Craig |

Hello Craig,
i use Windigital what is the same programm as Märklin 60512 in another layout. both software Programs are written by the same Person. I can drive my trains automaticly but i can also drive my trains by 6021, whereby Windigital is searching for a free track.
Greetings,
Walter

Walter, thank you... after I posted this query, i searched on the net for marklin 60512 and the Windigital site came up. unfortunately the computer I have does not meet the minimum requirements to run this software without an upgrade. I'll have to consider some other train control software. Craig |

Funny, two years later and a person still cannot download a demo of Marklin 60512 - you can get to it by following Noel's link: Quote:[size=1" face="Verdana" id="quote]quote: Originally posted by Noel LoganathanPlease download under: http://www.maerklin.de/service/?redirect=explo.php<http://www.maerklin.de/service/?redirect=explo.php> Click the botton "Download" on the right side at the top. I can download, even install, but when it goes to register I get the error "Cannot register c:\windows\system32\pdf.ocx". Yes, I even have Norton disabled, turned off, etc. I have searched the Windigital sitemap ( http://www.abbinkserver.com/) and found a place to download 60512 service release 1. Again, no luck when it comes to installing. I realize this string is out of date, but I was shopping for software and noticed this. Wanted to save a few people the headache. Ciao! |

To be off topic for one second - it is great to have a (primarily) english place to read about Marklin. I have slowly built a collection over the last 6 years and have never sought this website out. I was getting worried I would need to learn German (at least more than dankeschoen). Again - glad to be here and thank you for the greetings! |

Welcome to the forum, Colin. I understood that the current Märklin track-planning software was a re-badged WintrackCan anyone else confirm or correct this? BTW, this is an excellent forum -- just look at the meltdown currently happening on rec.models.railroad! |
