The Week Long Lionel Collectors Club of America Convention kick off yesterday At the DFW Airport Hyatt hotel.

Of course no Marklin.

So far looks like attendance is down compared to last convention in Denver.
There just isn't much train related stuff to do in the Dallas, Fort Worth area.

Me and The wife decided to skip the Monday Texas State rail road tour, the 106 degrees F or 41C weather takes the fun out of it.
In fact we are skipping all of the tours, since its in our own back yard and been there done that comes into play. And we are still at work this week.

Instead we decided to attend some of the seminars that are being presented this week at night.

Last night we Rail Road Cooking - Presented by a Chief that works on this Private rail cars http://www.cozx.com/ and others.
Very interesting and I have two recipes that I will scan and post, when I get a chance. It may be a few days as I am working all day then heading strait to the convention, then back home to get about 5-6hrs of .

We also attend Carving foam mountains presented by Rodger Farkash of TW Designs. TW Designs built Lionel's Traveling layout.
He carves very realistic mountains using "closed cell urethane foam" Its a rapid process using small saws, knives and he adds.. carves detail with a wooden pencil.
The foam is then sealed with a sealer mixed with terracotta red clay. Again when I get time I'll post more notes and some pictures.


Tonight we will be attending "Building Model Railroads for Public Display" presented by Ban Bywaters.
