Over the last weekend, our Marklin club attended a MRR amd Model exhibition in Wanganui, about 250kms away from Wellington. In this thread I will present some photos of the exhibition, as well as some pictures from our annual Railex exhibition, which was held last November, which I have been a bit tardy in not posting pictures of it. Enjoy!

These pictures show various models made from Meccano.

More pictures.

The circular Marklin layout was built on a motorised table which rotated roughly at the speed the loco was circulating the track.

Dave,

Are they all HO scale? It appears that Krock is larger maybe 1 scale.
I like what looks like a tram line, but I don't see any trams.
I also like the elongated double track layout with the center devider so it appears there are 4 seperate scenes.

Just a quick question, does anyone do Z scale in NZ?

Thanks a lot for sharing.

Yes the Krok and T18 are both 1 Gauge - the layout belongs to a member of our club.

Yes, there are Z Gauge layouts here - the Toot-O-Vision layout inside the TV is Z gauge.

The first 2 layouts in post #4 and the one you mention with the divider were N gauge.

There was a tram on the tram layout, but it may not have been running when I took the photo.

Dave,

I like that N scale layout with the 4 sections. It gives me some ideas for some Z scale items.

What is "Tri Ang" a model train company?

Robert, Triang are associated with Hornby, MRR stuff made by them used to be called Triang Hornby. Eventually it became just Hornby.

Hi BDNZ,
Do you know the reason for those center boards in the architectural looking layout?
Just curious,

Another Z Gauge layout. This one was sitting next to the 'Toot-O-Vision' layout.

Excellent pics!
Looks like this was really an interesting gathering!
It just happens that I am also into Meccano myself.
As a kid I had the famous Quebec bridge build with Meccano, throning in the diagonal of my Märklin layout.
No worries about "prototypical" length of coaches at the time, and the oversized CCS 800 did just great in front of the tinplate freight cars!
And what a racket it was whith all the train's rumbling on the 3600 series track mounted bare on the threstle!Laugh
I love those nostalgia exhibitions!ThumpUp

This layout is constructed on a mat that Marklin issued over 20 years ago.
There are spaces to place certain buildings, switches and even a bridge which I don't see in the view.
