Installed my first LokSound last night in a venerable 3021 V200. I am really impressed! Easy set up with my IB and it sounds great! I wish I hadn't invested so much in 6090x sets for my other loks...I may be selling these decoders on eBay!

I bought the armature, engine cover and magnet from a 60904 set and installed it with the LokSound. Great runner with great sound now! I'm sold on these decoders.

Ron: Great work but I thought you would keep that old beauty in her original analog condition ... Smile ???

I hope no one visits a poor Southener's layout in Brooklyn. Intruders beware of Gators.

John..the 3021.1 is still virgin. This is another one, a newer 3021, I picked up on eBay because I really wanted one to run.

rschaffr added:

By the way, I got this one for a real steal (about 30 USD). It had been abused (perhaps we need an organization for the ethical treatment of trains? biggrin). It had missing and broken pieces on the undercarriage and bogies, but the paint on the body was in reasonable condition for it's age. The missing/broken parts were happily provided by my friends at the LokShop, and after I had cleaned the gunk out of the motor, the gear train turned out to be intact, so i think I got a great buy!

Nice Ron!
I'm planning the same conversion with an E194 I bought, that came out of a partial 3300 croc set.
I'll let everybody know how th conversion goes, it will be my first also. Maybe I'll post some picture of the conversion.

Tamrac:

Have fun. It's not really difficult. The english manual for the LokSound is available for download on ESU's excellent website.

Surely, we got laws biggrin - "If people treat old Marklins badly their right to keep and bear locos shall be revoked ..."
But just look at McLae's Gator rescue efforts - it's a first step into the right direction [:p]
Ron, glad you've found another V200 for a more than reasonable price and restored her nicely - your collection of big V's is surely growing well Smile

My next addition to my small Gator collection will be a brand new, digital and olive-grey E94 with C-sinus motor (39221), and I'm also looking for an old, worn-out, analog and cheap E94 (3022) which I can give a complete frame-off restoration [:p] including new paint. Not quite sure about the color: definitely not green again, F.D.-red or pink would be a nice alternative ...

John

John: I only have one Gator, a 3022 I have converted to digital with a 60904 kit...one of my favorite loks (the other is my E103). I bought it new in Germany in 1980. It is in brand new condition (I have cared for it well). Here is a picture of it coming out of a tunnel:

Why do you think Esu comes with about 40 different mfx locsounddecoders.
Nr: 62464 for loc E94. I count with the light function 9 symbools functions.
M-track with a CS2.

I have a 3357 E103 with the old (6080 type) decoder in it. I may do that one next. See what the LokSound does with an E-Lok. I noted that the LokLound disables the back-EMF feature with the Marklin "Universal" (AC) motors. Probably be worth the investment to upgrade the motor in this one to a 5-star DC motor, also, like I did with the V200.

Ron, I know that picture quite well (your Gator is beautyful [:p]) - we talked about that one some time ago, do you remember ? (your "earthquake street" ... Smile)

John: Yes, I know. I plan someday to tear that road out and redo it. It was my first attempt at plaster molding. But yes, the 'gator is beautiful. I love to run it on my layout. So smooth and powerful.

Oh, I said it not because of this - just wanted you to remember ... I'd not change anything on that road - it's o.k. so as it is Smile

Thanks, guys. At any rate, if I were to re-do the road it is WAY down on my "to-do" list, probably in the "never happen" section.
