Hello all.

I'm finally on the planning stages of a layout that will actualy fit where I have room and I'm looking to build it from K track. Thing is I found a fair but of what I need on EBay that comes with two manual turn outs. Can these be fitted with motors and the below baseboard mounting kit or not?

Also, can you order them from marklin? I couldn't find a spare part list for the turn outs.
John and his M track, the only way to train. Now with added C track and bonus K track.

7548 and 7549 is what you want, the 7548 is the below baseboard mounting kit and the 7549 is the switch machine, 7547 is the lantern kit. If you need some switches I have plenty.

IMHO,you do NOT want to use the Märklin switch motor!

It's all good and well to say this, but then failing offer an alternative kinda makes it a waste of time.

Hi

the answers are: yes motors can be bought, and yes there is a below baseboard mounting kit.

BUT the below baseboard mounting kit is terrible and very unreliable.

One can instead mount the regular switch motors upside down and they can be made to look fine.

John,

Besides the original Marklin motor, and trying Dale's recommendation here is another. It is from Wolfgang Leitenberger's Eisenbahn Clinic webpage. Click the "Project" link on the left, then select Servo Motor towards the bottom of the page.

I use Tortoise motors wherever I can. I use portions of the Marklin underboard mounting kit (only the tab that hooks to the switch mechanism and the above board mount and cover)

Here is a picture of the motors (with my Grandson inside my helix watching the operation. BigGrin )
