Dear users,

I just got a new Rocco diesel loc that I now use on my Maerklin set. While may Maerklin locs are running at a high speed, the Rocco loc is extremely slow compare to the others. How could I fix this problem?

Hello, welcome to the forum.

Most Marklin locos will run too fast in analogue mode. Roco locos, and many newer Marklin ones, have the speed regulated to a more realistic maximum speed.

Do you run in analogue or digital? On most digital decodes you can set themaximum speed to whatever you like.

Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

Hi,

Thanks, I run them in digital mode, that is why I don't understand. You are right, Maerklin locs can be very fast, but this Rocco loc is extremely slow...:-(

perhaps it has its "Rangier Gang" function switched on... a slower speed setting for shunting.. often on F4

Which loco?
New loco or second hand?
Which scale?

NEM allows H0 locos to be up to 40 % faster than their prototypical speed.
So maybe the Roco loco is running at the correct speed while your Märklin locos are way too fast.

Maybe the decoder doesn't have the default settings.
You can try writing 8 to CV 8 to return to the factory defaults. Run the loco after this change.
Can you read CV 5?
Maybe it gets faster if you write 63 to CV 5.
However I wouldn't use larger values for CV 5 than the factory default.

Roco locos with ESU OEM decoders have their shunting mode (Rangiergang) on F3, F4 switches acceleration and braking delay off.
Regards
Tom

Thanks for the tips, its a brand new Roco HO diesel loc V200. The Marklin locs are running normal, can speed them up, the the Roco loc moves like a snail, abnormally slow...:-(
