Hi, Steve!

So once again Tom and if I am understanding 100%? no matter which mobile station I choose, they will not work with these decoders?
No automation with Mobile Stations. No automatic shuttle trains with Mobile Station.
Mobile Station 2 controls up to 16 functions per loco, turnouts and signals.
Central Station 1 or 2 control up to 16 functions per loco, turnouts and signals, and routes. They can use s88 feedback decoders to trigger signals, turnouts, and routes (automation) and include shuttle train support.
Since you wrote that you would like an automatic shuttle train, the Mobile Stations are out of the game.
Automation is not my area of expertise.
I cannot say how much of your shuttle train wishlist can be achieved with either a Central Station 1 or a Central Station 2.
Regards
Tom

Tom
You deserve a medal in my book! most folk would have thrown in the towel where I am concerned and I appreciate your patience..it does mean a lot to me.!
Tell me Tom..you are obvioulsly quite an expert and very knowledgable re DCC e.t.c. and I am sort of thinking..there appears to be a missing link here somewhere in our wiring?
I would like a shuttle(if at all possible) for obviouse reasons
IE
with a small layout /diorama.it would be very nice to have at least an automated shuttle type operation whcu can be switched off/Changed e.t.c.
I am wondering how other folk who do not own
CS1 &CS2
or similar items, run shuttles? maybe they don`t I don`t know.
So I buy the
MS2
please can you list for me what it will do(only if you have the time)
And of course these questions are open to anyone to answer?
So onwards to accessory operation(that which can not be done my MS e.t.c)
What excactly do i require to buy to set up a shuttle?
once agin a million thanks for your help
all the best Steve

Hi Steve. The MS2 will not run a shuttle. It will operate sounds in a loco decoder and also change turnouts and signals.
You will need a CS2 and a s88 to run a shuttle and it works very well (at least with my HO layout.) A CS1 may well do the same but unless you already have one I would not buy one now.
You are looking at expensive items and there is not much you can do to avoid the cost other than buy lots of bits from other manufacturers and build the shuttle routes yourself.
With the CS2 your train will leave a station then stop at another station and carry on to the destination station where it will reverse and return to the original station. The time spent at each station can be varied .
For this you need CS2,s88 and some type of contact track for Spur 1.
Other than running a small layout the MS2 main use is to connect to the CS2 in order to run more trains from a different part of the layout.
dave
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

Hi Dave great to hear from you..
As I have said on a few occasions the C2 is most cetainly out...and if you think about it Dave it is a non starter for excactly the same reasons you and others give as to why it is not worth doing this that & tother with such a small layout Diorama where is the sense dave in 450€+then all the other stuff on top! for my diorama? at least the MS was within the value for money zone... and the C1 may have being?I accept the MS will not do shuttle!
so I have to re-look at this and see if there is a cheaper alternative than the one you give...this is not me,I hope questioning your logic,or being ungrateful for your efforts... it may not be ideal but if need be? I will have to go down the route you describe as follows, but will have to have what ever is required built for me.:-

these two item alone would cost 600€+ that is daft.
I am sure putting together a shuttle in spur 1 should not be as costly or complex as it is now appearing?
An example I suppose would be the kind info/Link given earlier today re-dcc decoders similar to the s 88..they are a third of the cost
maybe someone out there as additional details on the Tams Elektronik Decoders? and how they compare to the bigger boys in both quality & functions e.t.c.
if this proves to be positive maybe we can look at other possible alternatives to marklin,veissman,e.t.c.
all the best for now cheers steve

Hi Steve,
I just looked in my diary - we met Helge Halvorsen at the Setesdalbahn. He claimed to have an extensive Märklin collection. His address was Gloppeskogen 43, 3260 Østre Halsen, Larvik.
We were there 5 + 6 August 1989 and they had 7 steam locos there, mostly Dübs 2-6-2 from 1894

Hi Steve,
After reading your posts of the last few weeks (tonight), I would like to offer a few ideas, a bit out of left field.
Before you get too deeply into the possibilities, could you effectively dip your toe in the water, and purchase a Gauge 1 starter set with digital controller?
This would not be wasted if you continue with the building of a layout. It will have the basics for you to understand yourself, what is possible, and what is not possible. Otherwise, you might find yourself all locked up in theory, and no enjoyment of doing something.
Personally, I model HO, but if my experience is anything to go by, Marklin
CAN
make it happen. I fiddled with models for 50 years before I got Marklin, and then finally I had a system on which I had the facility, and the encouragement, to build a complete layout. I started with a starter set. For example, Marklin 55035 comes with a digital controller, see

I hope you can find the same pleasure, I really do.
PS Your countrymen sure showed us how to play cricket overt the last six weeks. Beat us 3-1 in the test matches.
